Jayru Campbell, 6'1 FRESHMAN, starting Detroit Cass Tech High QB

Jayru outplayed Shane Morris tonight IMO. Jayru was ZIPPING the ball to his receivers on some throws. He has a very good arm, no doubt. It can only get better in his next 3 years of HS football.

He went 8/15 tonight and 0-0 in TD-INT. No fumbles.

Jayru also had a much better team. Shane played a great game. He had no time in the pocket and his receivers dropped a countless number of passes.

Shane had no protection and his WR were dropping passes all over the place. That sad, Shane needs to work on his footwork and he was winding up a little too much on some of those passes. That fumble was especially bad.

Exactly! Cass Tech has 8 D1 players and Warren only has Shane. Big difference....

  • Jayru has a lot of athletic ability for a freshman. Hopefully he gets good coaching in the next 3 years and becomes a star. I was impressed with his poise for being such a young kid in a big game. CTs O-Line is not very good due mostly to poor conditioning. I saw a lot of standing around. I mean literally just standing there watching the play go on. Drives me insane, as a coach.

Morris is talented too and will get plenty of coaching to refine his technique once he arrives in A2.

There was a lot of talent on the field, and aside from RJS and a couple others, I loved that #3 on DLS. Coach Hoke would say he "felt him out there." That one tackle on RJS on the sweep to the DLS sideline was a picture perfect tackle.

MSU isn't a very good football program.. takes year of consistent winning to get to that level. - copemoney 1/22/13
