Pocic was a major loss. No one really thought LSU was really in the picture. Smith on the other had was a long shot. He said he didnt want to play at the same school as his brother bc he felt some would think he was following in Rod's footsteps. Everyone on Bucknuts knew it was coming.
Actually, we haven't hit a recruiting walls. Remember, we only have 15 scholarships this year and 11 commits. We are being selective with offers and who we allow to commit. But thanks for painting an inaccurate picture.

Guess nobody at Bucknuts bothered to tell Luke Fickell and Mike Vrabel to stop recruiting Jaylon -- because they were all over him and wanted him bad. They thought it was them vs. ND until the morning of his commitment.
Acting cool and being cool are two different things, 12. You've got the acting part down, pretending OSU didn't expect more from Smith, but you're dead wrong.

Isn't that cute, you made a nice joke from my name...
But in all honestly, they get paid to recruit. They have to think they have a fighting chance with every recruit unless they completely shut the door like several of your recruits did (Dymonte Thomas, Kalis, even Shane Morris was called and didn't except). Smith never shut the door and that's why people thought we had a chance. I can't tell you whether or not the staff expected Smith to come to OSU or not, but it was clear that he favored Notre Dame. He wore Notre Dame stuff everywhere he went for the past year, including his basketball games, football games, camps, etc. And I said, everyone on "Bucknuts" knew he was going to Notre Dame. I won't lie and say we didn't want Smith to come to OSU, but your use of the word "expect" makes it seem like it was an OSU or die option.

Hindsight is always 20-20, oh brave one. Once the facts are out, it's easy to say you knew it all along.
When the brother of one of your current players, a guy you recruited hard, disses you for another program, it speaks volumes. Dinner table conversation around the Smith household couldn't have been very OSU-friendly. I wouldn't blame Meyer for this. It's a Luke Fickell snafu, the way that dummy handled Rod's Buckeye career.

Well, for a year or so now, Smith stopped sporting all his OSU gear and started sporting Notre Dame. Around that same time, Fickell got promoted to head coach and couldn't recruit as much as he used to. Smith never exactly dissed Ohio State from what I've read, but he just lost interest. I would like to say Rod's playing had a lot to do with Jaylon's choice but I don't have facts. I did notice his interest dropped as Rod stopped playing. But, I feel Rod's lack of playing time was a fusion of the stupid Fickell-Bollman lineups and play calling as well as Rod's fumbling problem. If he actually held on to the ball, I believe he would have had a couple of more carries.

I don't get this. First, he's probably guilty. It's relatively minor, so cut a deal for community service and move on. You will be in the NFL in 12 months. Second, even if he's innocent, this will take several months and he will probably miss the first part of the 2012 season. Even if he wins at trial, it will be a "win the battle, lose the war" situation.
