I haven't seen Bolden much the last few weeks; I think Demens has elevated his game after Bolden was pushing him. As for Pipkins, he's getting PT. It's just that he's a NT and won't get much stats. But he's holding the middle well when he's in. It's probably a good thing you're not noticing him; but for a true freshman playing NT, he's playing very well.

  • I was there, I tried to take notice of him but I only really payed attention on one play and he got blown out of the hole on a double team.

  • Pipkins plays a lot and gets some good push off the line. Really seems like our best DT pairing will be him and Q next year.

What year is Q? Is BWC the only DT we'll be losing next year?

He seemed to be everywhere. He is an absolute STUD! I remember him tackling Bell (early in the game) and the emotion afterwords got me fired up. He hit him hard and drove him to the ground. I almost think that play set to tone afterwards, especially when it comes to Bell, because Bell really disappeared in this game. It was almost like Bell got shook after that hit.

He's a RS Junior. Should see him next year paired with Pipkins on the interior, I'm assuming. Yet on deck will be Hurst Jr. and Poggi (incoming), with Ash, Willie Henry, Jibreel Black, and perhaps Wormley in the rotation.

Yeah he is. Q will be a fifth year senior next year. We'll have RS FR Wormley, Henry and Godin possibly in the rotation; RS JR Ash, SR Black (unless he goes to SDE) and RS JR Wilkins. Also SR Brink.

The fact that we're not hearing Pipkins name is a credit to him. He's getting lots of PT and holding his own - very impressive for a true freshman DT.

  • Ross and Boldwn havent played much since the bye week. I will be very surprised if Black isnt a sde next year. Possibly see Beyer making the same move to sde the year after if Stroebel isnt ready to go.

  • DEsomnd Morgan has really elevated his game too... Seems to be playing much faster and confident... The DL has really helped, allowing the LBs to roam... So impressed with DLs improvement over the season... Helps to have 3 coaches that specialize in DL on the staff.

morgan and demens have been playing better since they were losing game time to bolden and ross. they seen that the coaches would put freshmen in over them. they found out that the best players would play and they had to step up their game. giving bolden and ross a lot of minutes was a great move by hoke. the competition has the lb's playing at a high level. all the lb's know that if they slip up once their is another guy ready to take their spot.

it definetly does! the DL and the LB's have all been steadily improving. Morgan and Demens stepping up their game shows what having good quality depth does for you. Those guys felt the heat from the freshman and started playing much better.

Yeah, the motivational factor is excellent - and it also contributes to all of our collective peace of mind that we have such good depth that there is that push from the 2nd stringers. Hopefully we'll soon be at the point where we're just consistently cycling high-quality upperclassmen through our LB positions.

  • Washington has done a great job eating blockers and getting into the backfield as well... He and Roh have not been racking up stats but man they are playing some physical football up front and really occupying the OL... Did not think Roh would have the nasty streak to play the SDE but he sure has proved me wrong.

funny how something as simple as competition can make a player better. with these recruiting classes, there should be lots of depth and competition at every position in couple years.
