Is the Gap between OSU/UM and rest of BIG a good thing?

  • Frank C said...

Weird. Michigan State has no Rose Bowl berth to show for it...

Since when do you have to win the B1G to get a Rose Bowl berth?

It is easy to see why BCS bowls don't mean anything to you. MSU joins Indiana, Minnesota and Northwestern as schools from the B1G to never make a BCS bowl. Tells us everything we need to know about your program.

It tells me everything I need to know about your program if you think a Sugar Bowl bid makes that season successful when you couldn't even get to Indy to play for B1G Championship and Pasadena.

You know Dantonio saw him in person last Friday right? lol

Who gives a F**K? OSU assistants went to see him last week too. The point was the kid was impressed that on SIGNING DAY, those other coaches took time out of their busy day to show the kid what he meant to their programs. I don't think MD likes recruiting, he acts like it's a hassle.

You're really reaching now, Tressel himself has said multiple times how strong of a recruiter and evaluator of talent MD is. You're basing this one one tweet he sent out, you do know what they say about assumptions, right?

Michigan State should've gone to BCS games in 1999, 2010 and 2011. We continue to get screwed over by a censored, outdated system that rewards team's fanbase being larger over actual performance on the field.

1999: UM and MSU nine wins each. MSU beats UM. UM goes to Orange Bowl. Seems fair.
2010: MSU 11-1 same record as Wisconsin. Wisconsin goes to Rose Bowl, MSU no BCS game. Seems fair.
2011: MSU 11 wins most in the conference, MSU wins Legends and thrashes UM, plays an outstanding team for the second time and loses by three. UM backs into the Sugar Bowl. Really fair.

Just because you have more hillbillies in your fanbase shouldn't mean that determines if you get to go to a better bowl or not. The whole system is stupid and plays favorites. Anyone denying that is full of censored

Why do you blame everyone else for your failures?
1999, don't get rolled by Purdue and Wisconsin and you're not bitching today
2010, don't get rolled by Iowa and you're not bitching today.
2011, don't lose to Wisconsin in the CCG and don't get rolled by Notre Dame and Nebraska, and you're not bitching today.

Your program has controlled its own destiny in all of it, and has failed time and again. Don't bitch to us because you follow an also ran program.

Tressel was also known for putting together coaching staffs that were full of yes men....Every time I see MD interviewed, he looks like he is just sick of everything. Yesterday he couldn't even act like he was excited about any of his recruits. They asked him "Which of your recruits do you see being able to make an impact maybe in their Freshman year".... MD pulls out this gem "The Kicker we got ........ " THE KICKER???? That's the recruit that he was most excited about??? You are correct, he is a Tressel guy... Tress always said the punt was the most important play in football....good luck with your kicker, hope he's your MVP this year.

I clearly stated what defined success for me. I said that we lost the Rose Bowl fair and square in 2011, but that after playing and winning the Rose Bowl, my next priority was to get a good matchup against a good team and win, we did that by beating Georgia. I didn't say that season was unfair, you're mistaking me for another poster who said that.

I did say that the series of events that lead to us not going to Pasadena in 2010 was unfair, so regardless of not going to the Rose Bowl that season, I still see it as a major success as we won the B1G and we were the best team that year. If you disagree with that I'd like to know why you think we didn't deserve to go over Wisconsin.

He also mentioned a lot of other players, you just chose to misquoted him. He talked a lot about Dennis Finley making an impact on the O line. He talked about all 3 of our running backs begin able to make an impact as they are larger backs and all our experienced guys are smaller, so he will need one of the freshmen to compliment Hill and Thompson. He also said a lot about Damien Terry coming in and seeing how he progresses with the offense, as well as the difficulty of having any freshmen start on our defense because it is hard to learn with all the looks we run and they will need a very high football IQ to be able to get in early in their freshmen year so it was up to them to stand out in the spring and fall to do that.

If all of a sudden you are bailing on Tressel's opinion when he brought OSU so much success than I don't even know how to respond to that. you're just rationalizing however you need to rationalize to fit yoru decision of disliking Dantonio because you think you know him based on some off the wall assumptions of his personality in a press conference you clearly didn't watch all the way through.

This explains why Mich fans didn't cry after losing to Ohio State in 2006 that they still should get to play for the NC lol

You lost the B1G championship game. When your destiny is entirely in your hands, you don't have anyone else to blame.

Michigan took advantage of its chance when it won the Sugar Bowl. MSU didn't take advantage of theirs. Don't come crying because your team failed to execute.

I still laugh about Mich fans bragging about being in that Sugar Bowl, as if the entire nation was drooling at the matchup of Big 10 Legends Division runner up vs ACC runner up....lol

So in other words, MSU should have to go 13-0 to get to a BCS game every year, since they don't have as large of a fanbase as Michigan.

Michigan can go 11-2, lose to MSU, and still sneak into bowl games over them for one reason: more money

Its a crock. Change this garbage system.

How'd your team do in your bowl game?

**MSU coach Mark Dantonio went to see 2014 four-star wide receiver commit Drake Harris Friday. Per a source close to Harris, Dantonio showing up meant a lot and is just one of the many reasons why Harris remains committed to MSU.

Well, we won the 2000 Orange Bowl and the 2012 Sugar Bowl.

    Can your team say that?

And lol @ poking fun at my avatar. He's a pyschopath and he makes Hannibal Lecter look like a pussy. But don't take my word for it. Take the word of a Pulitzer Prize winner.

  • Btw, has everyone noticed what's happened here?

This was a thread between the 2 big boys on the block wondering if they would become too strong for all the other kids to take on.

Little brother couldn't handle being left out of the conversation and just had to interrupt.

The inferiority-complex is really showing through Sparty.

Yea, keep blaming the system instead of your program for the 3 losses that kept you out of a BCS bowl. Sounds solid.
