Is Michigan A Top-Five Bkb Team for 2012-13?

  • With Trey Burke coming back and Mitch McGary coming in, Michigan very well could be a Final Four contender in 2012-13.

These seem to be good days for the Big Ten with 4 Sweet 16 teams and another Final Four team this past season.

We take a look at all 12 Big Ten programs and share some thoughts on who the contenders and pretenders will be next season:

Stay tuned, we will have an early national top 25 for football and basketball in the days and weeks ahead.

  • Possibly.

I think we are a top 10 team that can grow into a top 5 team.

I think people are underestimating the importance of two seniors (Novak and Douglass) who helped Coach Beilein build the program from nearly nothing. While those players are being replaced by athletic, dynamic players, there will be an adjustment period.

  • I agree the potential is there but chemistry is huge so we will see how they blend together. Look at the Miami Heat they had Bosh, Lebron, and James and should have won championship on paper took awhile for them to mesh. I would rather be ranked in the 20's to start. Seems like things never end up good when you start the season at the top. IMO Also I agree Novak and Douglass being leaders and leaving will hurt plus Smot transferring as well.

Bosh, lebron, and wade. Everyone understood but I felt that I should point it out.

I definitely agree with this. I think at the beginning of the season Michigan might struggle a bit, but as the season goes on I can see them becoming a very good team.

  • The team will be as good as Timmy plays. If he is inconsistent, the team will follow. I see around 15 in the preseason, and then let's see how they gel.
