This is what I know for a fact downriver. My cousin went to MSU and got his degree in liberal arts with a B/C average in High School. I don't believe it's possible to attend UM AA with a B/C average. Judging by the comments on the Red Cedar board I'd say most downriver people have more in common with MSU fans than UM fans. I just moved back here from West Chester, Ohio and MSU fans are very similar to OSU fans in terms of overall rudeness and flat out hatred. I moved into a beautiful house here two months back and the place was an absolute mess. The lady at Lowe's told me welcome to Downriver, lol. On day two we were behind some big UAW member pick up truck with a pair of silver balls hanging from the trailer hitch. My wife asked what the hell was that and where have you taken me to? I explained, hillbilly heaven. How you know you are back Downriver is when you are out golfing on a golf course along a road and people are screaming things at you out the window of their car as they ride by. No other place I've ever lived is like this, lol.

Walverine describes behavior more than anything else. It is the fan that insults MSU's education, but have no/lesser college degree. They say Michigan will win because "Their Michigan". They think WalMart Wolverine is childish and immature, but "Ohio" is the greatest thing ever. Every fanbase has asssholes, but Michigan has a ton of them and we have a name for them.

If you did not graduate from the University of Michigan, why do you pull for the wolverines? If you didn't go to college at all, that's fine. If you went somewhere like Ferris, SVSU, or Wayne State, that's fine too. But why pull for UofM?
About half of UMAA alumni are from somewhere other than Michigan - typically from an East Coast or New York City socio-economic elitist family. These are people who hate you. They can't stand to be in the same room as you. You’re not invited to their cocktail parties. If you were, they’d have you parking cars. These are people who treat you like a fill-in janitor. When you leave the room, they gossip and make jokes about you. Why are you so ravenously loyal to something that doesn’t respect you as a person?
Michigan State has done more for the people of Michigan, more for the State of Michigan, and more for institutions like the Military and probably shares your values more. Again - why do you support something that fundamentally disrespects you? Are you a doormat in all other areas of your life as well?

Speaking as someone in the legal community and as someone with an intimate knowledge of the Ivy League admissions process, this just isn't true at all.
If the hiring partner isn't an MSU grad, a UM Law grad will get a job over an MSU Law grad 95 times out of 100. On top of that, even the LSAC (the legal equivalent of the College Board) recognizes the inherent difference in the schools by weighting undergraduate UM and MSU GPAs differently when considering graduate admissions.

Notice the keyword, "most."
Law school is a different animal, and it can be argued whether or not it should be so. I don't particularly care about it either. I think you're exaggerating, but you're also choosing to respond to a level headed statement with something inflammatory to argue your point. So, it's not worth my time to argue back.
Outside the midwest about 95% of people won't care which school you went to.
A large number of people outside the midwest that aren't Spartan fans don't like UM either! *Gasp*
