Is Denard Robinson the best running QB in college history?

  • Do you think Robinson is the second to none when it comes to running signal-callers in the history of the college game? IndySportsLegends.com weighs in on the subject.

Is Michigan's Denard Robinson the best running QB in college history?

Michigan quarterback Denard Robinson might be the best running QB in college football history. Hell have a stage to show it vs. Notre Dame.

  • The only guys I would say are in the conversation are Vick, Pat White, and Vince Young...

    Denard definitely has a case.

For my money it was Tommy Frazier. He was tough, elusive, fast enough, and he could really use his arm efficiently. Holieday was really, really fast, but he wasn't going to burn you with his arm.

Tom Harmon played in a different era, but he could do it all exceptionally well.

Pure runner Holieday was pretty good.

  • I'm not being a homer or bias. I cant see anyone better than denard. the guy ran for 1700 yards in a season. he has games of over 200 yards rushing. has a chance to break pat whites record in only three years. pat white played 4 years. if denard played 4 years he would have a record that probably would never be broken. he would of shattered pats record by almost a 1000 yards. shoelace runs in the 4.3. he has an unbelievable burst and acceleration. hes a great cutter. we've seen him run sideline to sideline with nowhere to go then bam he hits a hole and takes it to the house. he makes something out of nothing. the most amazing QB runner you will ever see.

I wonder how long it will take until bucknuts raid this thread and say braxton is a better runner. over/under 24 hours.

  • Everyone's replies are great, but they focus mostly on the running aspect. When you look at Frazier, Vick, White, and Young, there are some much better passers in there. The might only be almost as good as Denard with the feet, but some are much better through the air.

The original question wasn't who's the best runner, but who's the best running QB. I think both have to be taken into account.

I'd take Frazier or Young...but I sure am glad we've got Denard!!!!!

  • I'd have to say Young. We forget how awesome that guy was in the clutch, both running and passing. Vick was not really any better a passer in college than Denard. Frazier and the others were 'run first' QBs...I really do wonder what Denard would have looked like in a pure, effective Rich Rod system. He clearly would have destroyed all the rushing records.

correct. I was strictly talking about rushing ability. If were talking about the best dual QB overall, I don't know. I will have to think about that. there is too many good Dual qb's to pick one.

Young was a threat w/ the arm too so I think that made it much easier w/ the secondary focusing on the WR's... Denard's passing basically gets ignored and he has to do all his work w/ full attention on him.

Frazier is a good one too, but i'd take Denard's insane big-play ability over the advantage in toughness that Frazier had. Vick was electric, but I could never give him any kind of award so he's out of the discussion for me.

    Give me Denard! bow

  • Based on strictly running, he's the best Ive ever seen, but as a dual threat Young is peerless. The game against USC is as good a championship performance as you'll see not just in CFB, but in sports.

  • Denard lost any remote opportunity for a legends patch in my opinion tonight.....It will be hard not to think of this game when thinking about his legacy
