I just watched his film 3 straight times. Ducks is right when he says he throws off her back foot because of pressure. I think Speight's 3 biggest strengths are accuracy, anticipation of the routes, and throwing his WR's open. The dude obviously has great touch on deep balls...and you do get to see him dart a few short to mid-range slants and curls in there. Overall, I still like Cornwell better but Speight is also a wonderful player and will prolly be a top 10 QB in the nation I would think. Only weakness I really saw was he likes to take chances and try and thread the needle. But other than that....he looks pretty good to me. Good to have him aboard.

Everyone is acting like the guy can't throw the ball 20 yards. Yeah, he doesn't have Shane's arm but neither did any of the quarterbacks the year before or after.
I'm really excited for Speight - think he can be a really accurate quarterback and is exactly the type of arm Borges wants for his offense.
Maybe I'm wrong, I just see a lot of stargazers out here right now.

I freely admit I'm a bit guilty of that right now. I'm going back and re-watching all his highlight reels, and I'm getting more excited about him. There are still things I don't like, but there are a lot of positives, and again - faith in the coaches.

Ok im worried. Watched his film and am very worried about arm strength. Even short passes have a ton of air on them.

Opinions... is it easier for a kid to gain power on his throw that is already accurate, or for a kid to learn accuracy with a strong arm?
Speight is accurate, smart, and prototype size. While I preferred Cornwell to any QB in the class, I believe Speight has everything you need in a QB recruit to be as successful as needed.

I like his film , agreed throws off back foot because of pressure, has room to improve on arm strength for sure but that will come. With frame im sure he could add some muscle mass.
I sure hope we still would like to see another Qb in this class to be honest with you.
Wonder what those odds are?

Let's all at least wait for Cornwell and O'Connor to have their chances to call in and speak with the UM coaching staff before we start judging the process. I'm a big Cornwell fan and don't know much about Speight, but it seems like the staff is doing exactly what they said they were going to do. They spent months narrowing the field to a top three and asked all three to call in today.

Per a Magnus comment over on mgoblog, Speight had 24 TDs and 17 ints.
I'm trying to verify because that is a lot of interceptions.
EDIT: it does seem legit because he had several multiple interception games.
