Yea, there's a difference between going 9-3 vs. 8-4, or 10-2 instead of 9-3. The IU rivalry isn't going to "move the needle", but it'll enable MSU to rack up wins. No one seems to do a ton of talking about how Wisky scheduled 3 (now 4) cupcakes a year to get to 6-5 and start building a winning tradition. Total Ws at the year end will matter, and it'll be nice to have a breather on the schedule.

Plus, in years like 2013-14, MSU will be able to duck the top 3 Leaders teams: Wisky, PSU and tOSU. We'll still be playing @Nebraska and @Iowa in '13, as well as @ND, plus have UM at home, so it's not a cakewalk, but compared to other conference squads, it'll open the door for more relevant seasons for MSU. Right now MSU needs Ws more than anything else. State needs to have multiple 8+ W seasons to stay in that upper-middle class in the Big 10, and playing a cupcake like IU really helps.

We won 5 straight and 10 out of 14 until this year, including 6 straight in S. Bend. I'd say we had your number. Now ND has won 2 of 3 so the series might be swinging back in your favor.

Since 1950 ND leads the series 31-26-1 so it's actually been fairly even. It's usually been one team winning the majority of games for a number of years rather than a back and forth every year though.

We play our biggest rivals this week in IU and we will be rooting for you guys to beat Nebraska. Good luck and destroy the Cornhuskers and we will be in a bloodbath with IU which reminds me FU IU! Forks Down!
