Green is a very talented back...i never had my hopes on gettinghim, cuz I figured he was OSU all the way. More than happy with a combo of Smith and Isaac

Agree. I've been hearing he was an OSU lean for what feels like a year now. I was surprised to see he even visited Michigan honestly.

I hope that isn't a member-only or VIP article. Maybe just link it next time if it's a freebie.
Anyway, I think most Wolverine fans will admit that they don't see Green coming to Ann Arbor. I prefer Isaac and Smith, but would've been fine with Isaac and Green. I think Smith has that little extra spark and if he's underrated for the duration of the next 10 months, I think he'll just work that much harder to prove everyone wrong. Besides, everyone on the Ohio boards keep saying that they don't need anymore big backs because you're so "stacked" already. Might be an injustice to Green going to Columbus?

Yes. Coaches are trying to get another RB in the class.

This is great. Kids who want to wait until after NSD usually have a certain mindset. Let's just say being part of a team is not a priority. So if he goes to OSU, no worries. If he doesn't, they probably won't be able to fill the spot.

This always seemed like an excuse to me. The coaches who visit a high level recruit are not the same mid-tier coaches that take lesser kids at the school. If the othr kids are good enough to play at a high level they will get noticed. Jordan Diamond used the same excuse and didn't help his teammates out at all AFAIK.

And how often has that actually worked?
I would say maybe once in a thousand cases that works out, but 99/100 times it's just an excuse.
He is not committing because he does not want to commit, pure and simple.

I see what you're saying, but I respectfully disagree. For example, I know that Timber Creek (the high school in New Jersey with 2013 Michigan offerees Greg Webb and Dajaun Drennon) routinely practices this approach. It doesn't always work, but it definitely has gotten some of the less-heralded guys more exposure. That doesn't necessarily mean that all those under-the-radar guys suddenly get offers from Texas, but maybe a coach from Texas calls his buddy who coaches at Houston and tells him they should take a look at Player X, or a coach from LSU calls his buddy at Tulane and suggests they take a look at Player Y.

It seems this actually works so infrequently that there is no way that it is worth the star player possibly losing his spot on a team of choice (a much more lkely proposition). I would question a coach that would risk his star player's future based on such a small benefit. Not a worthwhile idea for the star player if you are weighing the realisitic pros and cons. It seems much more likely this is an unintended AND AFTER THE FACT benefit (if any) of kid that just doesn't want to commit and then the coach uses this excuse, That is much more likely than that it is any real or intentional strategy. (I.e. It is an after the fact grasp at calling it a benefit...in other words, an excuse).
