  • "Fake Buckeye" LeCharles Bentley would disagree with some of the things in that sorry excuse of an article.

I was referring to the writers association to 247 as his/her employer, and the values of objectivity the employer wants to represent.

But that's my point. The piece wasn't published under the actual name of one of the Bucknuts staff. It was published under the pseudonym Mr. Bucknuts. That is an editorial device used to signify that it is in some way different than a traditional, objective piece of journalism. And there is a reason they didn't pick the name Mr. Rolltide or Mr. Sparty. Mr. Bucknuts is used to signify an editorial slant in favor of OSU and that's exactly what we find in the piece. It was never intended to be objective.

Correct, Michigan's Rivals site does some stuff like that as well, granted not to the same degree.

Would you expect anything less? If we are just operating under the premise that the players win football games, then "The Game" is trending towards an evenly matched series, if we are only going off of recruiting. Our two respective programs will field comparible talent for the forseeable future. That's a tough pill to swallow for a lot of buckeyes who spent their adult life under Tressel ball. A lot of them can't even remember Michigan as a viable threat year to year. It's why the new buckeye is so damn cocky. So they are clinging to Meyer bandwagon because being realistic would mean accepting that they're in a dog fight for the next ten years. No more grandpa Carr or Rod and the gang.

Exactly. All objective observers (OSU fans included) realize the balance has shifted in recruiting. OSU dominated the Midwest for the past decade, but that era is over and the new higher level of recruiting at UM is making many OSU fans nervous. The hype surrounding Urban is great, but unless it translates to the recruiting trail it is of little benefit to OSU. And despite Urban's rockstar status, Hoke & Co. are recruiting as well or better. That has to be a bit confusing and unnerving to our friends in Columbus.

That article is pure fiction. Even the author can't honestly believe 3/4 of what he wrote. How in the world can it be inappropriate to point that out? Propaganda is the exact term for what it is.

I just think there's a more respectful way to do it. Cite facts, analysis, etc and explain what you disagree with and how. No need to attack the person writing it though.

  • I have to say that was one of the more comical things I've read regarding recruiting in a while.

You know the whole thing is going to be pure gold when it starts off with "Shane Morris versus JT Barrett: Their top overall recruit versus our top quarterback. Since we have Braxton for three more years and they don’t; since we are going to feature our back-to-the-future spread and they are reverting to the back-to-the-past drop-back QB (think John Navarre), we really have an advantage here, particularly with Jalin Marshall as a throw-in (although not likely to play the position). Advantage? Even (fair and balanced, man…) "

That guy can't honestly believe what he wrote, right?....right?

In the Taco vs. Bosa debate:

"Taco is barely three stars and Bosa is really five"

Uhh.. no he's not and no he's not...

As the biggest of Buckeye fans myself, I'll admit that I was shaking my head while reading this article. The player to player comparisons didn't make sense to me amd while this writer tends to write interesting opinion pieces, this one was weak. Anzalone, oops, plenty of time to fix that. The Taco v Bosa was probably his most accurate point but the Dawson v whoever it was was bad. Dawson has been ballin out at camps/combines.

Oh, and Obama, I mean Worly, a warning about people expressing their opinions?
    Weak comrade.

  • I dont mean this to be offensive to our dear writer..but that piece should be thrown in the trash because its pure garbage..Dude wrote the whole piece while in the spin cycle..All credibility is Oscar Mike for that "writer"..and i cant give reasons why because i dont have enough time

Need to write a few paragraphs to justify that your recruits are better than ours.

even i thought this article was whack. i do tend to like ohio states recruits more, but the reasoning in this article was absurd.

As I've said multiple times, people are completely free to express their opinions and they can say whatever they want about the content of an article. It just serves no purpose, and can only lead this site down the wrong road, when people attack the person writing it.

  • Article doesn't make much sense. The guy averaged out Elliot to a #59 when he isn't even ranked on Rivals or 247. Plus, they are pitting positions like DB against OL.

As much as it pains me to say this I agree with the buckeye...there were no posts swearing, threatening life, attacking families or any sort of personal attacks towards the author (unless posts were deleted before I read them)....the posts that arr shown are quite civil. I won't turn this into a political discussion on what is wrong with our country and culture, but I must say Todd that I whole heartidly disagree with your warning. The Bucknuts writer can write whatever he would like and as paying members we should be able to exprrss our view points as we feel necessary as long as it is family friendly and non threatening. #Go Blue

  • How about the 2012 class?

Ohio State Recruiting: Comparing Urban Meyer's and Brady Hoke's 2012 Classes - Land-Grant Holy Land

Ohio State and Michigan had two of the top 10 classes in 2012. But who edged whom and what's to come for Urban Meyer and Brady Hoke?

I'm not trying to stir the pot Todd, but the writer did not cite many facts, analyses, etc. so his article has absolutely no credibility in my eyes. I understand that it was an opinion piece, but he did not back up his opinions with any facts or analysis. His arguments are weak at best. To me, he warranted any personal attacks on himself by writing such an unsubstantiated article. I haven't offered any personal attacks against him, but I now feel dumber for having read that article. That is time I will never get back.
