If Hoke doesn't offer Braylon's little brother...

  • how much of a stink do you think it's gonna raise? Love BE but he can act a little spoiled from time to time.

  • He already has been petulant about it.

  • He has already said something, but it seems like either Carr or Hoke himself talked to Braylon. There is no reason Berkley can't come to camp and earn himself an offer though.

There wont be a spot left. Its not like last year. And it doesn't matter.

Well it depends how many spots are open, we still aren't sure everyone made the cut academically from last years class, some players may transfer during fall camp, and Michigan may have some early entrees in the NFL draft.

Unless this class is going to be larger than 24, I'm not seeing it. We are at 21 now and Treadwell makes 22 with 3 WRs. And we are still aggressively pursuing another DB, DE and possibly RB. Who exactly do people expect us to turn away so we can fit Edwards into this class? Mathis? Muhammad? Augusta? Fuller? Luke? Green? The S/WR duo from Florida? Unless we whiff almost across the board on all our remaining top targets, we will likely be at 24-25 even without Edwards.

  • I think it's one WR, one DB, and one DE/RB/WR. Green is the only option at RB really, so it's much more likely that a DE could take this spot. Mathis is most likely going to end up at UW IMO, Muhammad may start his process too late, and Augusta doesn't seem to have that much interest in Michigan. The DB is either going to be Leon McQuay or Kendall Fuller, McQuay being more realistic as he has no family ties to a certain school or have any of his home state schools in his top 5. The WR could go to Treadwell, he just needs to save his spot or he is endangering losing it to Paul Harris or Alvin Bailey. We'll see, but if there is an open spot at the end of the cycle, Edwards may get an offer.

We are at 21 right now Treadwell is not committed. Alabama just lost what everyone thought was a guarantee this week. and another recently if I remember correctly. I hope and I wish but never count before hand.

  • There are too few spots to offer him. We are still in on some big talent, and it's hard to believe that everyone will turn us down of Bailey, McQuay, Mathis, Green, Fuller, Treadwell. Braylon could pay for him to walk on at Michigan, but he'll probably pout about him not getting a scholarship.

I won't argue most of your points because recruiting is way too fluid to really know for sure in most cases, but I strongly disagree on one point. Treadwell is at zero risk of losing his spot unless he decides to wait until January (and I'm not even sure then). The coaches will wait for him to make a decision and that decision will very likely be UM.

Well if Harris and Bailey commit, then his spot is gone. Can't take 5 WRs in one class.

It's possible the coaches could offer him a grayshirt, which would only require the family to cover one semester of tuition. Idk how the family would react to that, but it would be much easier to fit him in the 2014 class than the 2013 class.

That's true, but with other B1G offers I doubt he accepts. This is just such a hard class to fit him in, this class is meant to address needs and get depth at certain positions. The fact that Berkley doesn't play at a position of need and isn't an elite player at his position definitely hurts him. If he was a 2012 recruit he would already have an offer.

We will not take both Harris and Bailey before Treadwell makes a decision (or at least tells the coaches he is leaning toward another school). He has said publicly UM is holding a spot for him and he has moved up his decision timeline twice. He currently is expected to decide by the end of the summer. Treadwell is a better true wideout than either Bailey or Harris and we have a very good chance at landing him. There is no logic to taking Harris and Bailey before Treadwell decides. It is only mid June fergodsakes.

  • I understand the class situation. I wasn't suggesting that any top targets go away. I was just wondering what kind of dust up would occur. Clearly Braylon wants him at UM. Braylon has given a lot of money to UM. They are a legacy family. A marquee legacy family. A lot of dynamics here. More than just scholly numbers. Especially after they gave a scholly to a long snapper. I expect Hoke to get the best kids he can but if BE wants to press the issue it could get interesting. I think Dave Brandon will likely step into the gap for the staff on this one. Hoke doesn't need the distractions and DB know the family.

We probably would have taken him instead of Norfleet if he was a 2012 prospect, but it just doesn't look like we will have room in the 2013 class due to how amazingly well recruiting is going.

Yeah, a class filled in this early is extremely rare. Especially without a junior day or anything like that. Kinda greedy about the 2014 class, hopefully the coaches make a big impression during the BBQ.

FWIW Stan Edwards is no wallflower either. But I'm sure they are in close contact with the coaches. The issue of legacies comes up frequently and I'm sure the coaches have thought through the best way to handle it. And to their credit, the Edwards have been fairly quiet and patient except for Braylon's one tweet a couple months back. I have confidence this is under control.

I would really like him to be a wolverine. I just don't see how we can offer him a scholarship at this point unless a few things fall through. Braylon has paid for something like 100 other scholarships for people to go to Michigan, why can't he pay for one more with his brother? I do understand though the fact that Berkley wants to earn a scholarship through his play and there is something to be said for that.

It might be the principal of not offering his brother a scholarship that might be the issue for Braylon.

If you were berkley wouldnt you want to say that you earned yourself a scholorship as opposed to saying your rich older brother paid for you. Lol even P.Diddy's son earned a scholorship
