IF/WHEN Brady Hoke retires....

  • SimplyComplex said...

Not kicking him to the curb?

Hoke is close to 60 and I wanted some opinions because this is the first time that ive discussed this topic...

I didn't realize he was that old. Being an Ohio State fan, I don't like him, but he is good for the rivalry. You can tell he really hates OSU. That is the way it should be. But seriously, I know Tom Brady wouldn't be a likely candidate, but who runs an offense better than him? God, that hurts to say that. Harbaugh would be the likely choice if he has had his fill of the NFL by then.

It was better off Harbaugh going to the NFL now than if he came to Michigan for 5 years, did well and then left for the NFL. Who knows though Hoke might stay for a really long time.

  • Wiki says Hoke is 53, it's probably going to be a while.

I think he stops before he hits 65.

  • Hoke is 53.
Harbaugh is 48 (I think) and likely going to be the coach at SanFran for at least 5 years. If, by some wild circumstance, he left SF to coach here (which is NOT happening), he'd be 53 at the time.

I don't even want to THINK about the next coach. I'd just like to think about winning these next 3 games.

MSU isn't a very good football program.. takes year of consistent winning to get to that level. - copemoney 1/22/13

I thinks he coaches until the season he turns 65. Telling the AD that he will be retiring before the season start allowing them to make a choice on a new HC before signing day, if not giving the job to someone already on his staff.

It will be a very smooth transition. But that is 12 years away, no need to worry about it yet.

Wow, did not know he was that old.. I think Wheatley is going to be going to a big time school in the next year or two. He is a very impressive recruiter and the kids gloat about him.. Will be at a much higher profile job very soon.

  • Wheatley is still fairly new to coaching so he has some more "seasoning" to do. His next step will probably be to replace Fred Jacskon, whenever he retires*. Once here, he'll have to produce a couple star running backs AND impress the hell out of David Brandon.

*my guess is Jackson retires when his son graduates. But that's just a wild guess.
