  • I have had a few good conversations on this and wanted to get your thoughts. If you were the Comissioner for the NFL would you have overturned the ruling on Monday night and award the Packers the win?

No. It's a horrible precedent. Bad calls (and non-calls) happen all the time. Several others happened in that game alone. The commissioner's office can't set itself up as a place teams go to appeal bad calls.

This. It is unfortunate, but don't keep adding bad decisions on top of bad decisions.

I agree with Mr. Woodson no, but I would probably resign, or step down. The league is becoming kind of a joke with all the reviews, what can and can't be reviewed, red flags flying all over, rules changes each and every year. The NFL takes to much time to follow and understand.

I agree with this. If you do it this one time, that could lead to an extremely slippery slope of when you do it in the future.

Also, I heard a sports talk show bring up a great point that I hadn't even thought about. Think about the effect a reversal of the outcome would have in the gambling world. So many people had already made - or lost - money on that game, so that would be a complete mess if the league changed the outcome of the game.

  • I actually didn't think it was such a terrible call. Tate had his arm between the ball and the defenders chest on initial contact so the defender never had full possession, and by the time they both hit the ground they both had two hands on it. At that point its a fight for the ball and Tate wanted it more.

The phantom pass interference call on GB during the previous drive was much more egregious.

As a casual fan of the NFL I actually find the games more entertaining to watch with the replacement refs.

The NFL is on a path to becoming the NBA, where the officiating is becoming much more of a determining factor in the game.

I agree that the officiating in the NBA plays way too big of a role in deciding the outcome of a number of games. The NFL has obviously taken a step backward, but with the return of the regular officials, it shouldn't be anywhere near as bad as it is in the NBA.

  • Thank you all. I am glad to see that we are all in agreeance. One of my buddies is a Packer fan and thinks the commish should have stepped in.

It was clearly an interception. The defender had both hands on the ball with the ball pressed against his chest. Which means possession therefore an interception. While Tate had just one hand on the ball. He never had two hands on the ball. He never had any possession. This is not simultaneous possession. This was a big time missed call. I do agree with you on the pass interference penalty, but there were many penalties called wrong in that game. Laslty a casual fan might be fine with these scabs, but for someone that loves the NFL or someone who bets on the NFL they are not ok.

No offense but your clearly bias. The Green Bay db had the ball and the Seahawks receiver was catching him. They have played it over, and over, and over. If you don't see that get a new set of glasses.
