Smith is not slow. He just doesn't have breakaway speed. Smith has great vision, the initial burst needed to get through the hole and is very hard to tackle. Smith will have plenty of big runs. He might not hit the 70 yd TD runs but he will have plenty of 20, 30, 40+ yard runs throughout his career at Michigan. People are seriously way to caught up in 40 times.

I was happy that you were wrong on this one Steve. You do a great job in the Midwest for 247 though. Michigan is having a great class regardless and hoke seems to be a great coach

There are conflicting reports about this. Mathis and his camp insist that he's on track to qualify. Also, it wouldn't make a ton of sense for a school like Michigan, that's more academically selective than many other football programs, to continue to recruit him if he had no chance to qualify.
I honestly don't know the exact truth at this point, but I doubt it's a slam dunk that he won't qualify, or else I wouldn't think the Wolverines would waste their time.

You could be right Not sure exactly why, but sometimes a kid can't qualify for one school and he turns right around and gets into another one And I dont think it is based purely on one school having higher standards than another
Remember Eugene Germany?
He actually enrolled ar USC and after a week, our admissions people said he didn't qualify so he went to Michigan and was let right in
It must have something to do with some schools accepting certain HS classes and others not because I am in no way implying that Michigan has lower standards
Can anyone shed some light on this, and the Eugene Germany situation?
Do I remember this correctly?

Exactly I just don't understand why some of these skill position recruits don't see how stout are offensive line is projecting. If I was a running back with aspirations towards the NFL that is one of the first things I would look at. Every time a running back is interviewed after a great game he credits his lineman.

Sorry about your luck here Michigan. I debated who I would rather see him go to today and I decided UM. Him tearing up the P12 has little affect on Midwest happenings. Him playing for UM would hurt tOSU. Anyway you shake a stick at it we were gonna play him 3 or 4 years no matter what.

I missed on Ty Isaac
