I missed on Ty Isaac

idk why everyone is so high on ty he isn't as good as people think. He plays against weak talent that make him look good. He is way to tall to be a back in college Trust me Sc will make him into a WR beside he wont be able to beat out the RBs they will be bringing in. He has bust written all over him. The kid will end up at some Mac school back in the midwest book it.

That's just sour grapes. Ty has talent. Good luck to him.

How about you hit that sign out button in the upper right hand corner and take a break from posting for awhile. Ty is one of the best RBs in the nation.

He is easily one of the best RBs in the nation. I'm sure if he had committed to Michigan you would be saying he should be the #1 rated back in the nation. Provide links where you said he wasn't a good back.

It's starting to get frustrating how we cannot reel in these elite skill position prospects save Morris. I just have a feeling that our offense will still be really good but won't have too many big plays. We needed Isaac for that and if we lose out on Treadwell we're in trouble.

    i agree with this 100%

However, it should be concerning when we fail to land those guys. Especially when the athlete in question is Ty Isaac, who's been one of our top targets since forever, who's from the Midwest, who took a ton of visits to us, etc. It's totally legit to be concerned about that.

Exactly. Michigan is not going to get ever elite kid they have on their wish list. Although, it is troubling on how we lose a kid from the midwest, which we spent so much time and investment. Is it the end of the world? Of course not. You deal with it and move one. However, at some point it would be nice to see us win these kids. While Michigan is not 'tailback U', the offensive lineman in 2012 and 2013 offers a very compelling proposition, to those who want the elite talent blocking for them.

I never said I wanted you blocked. I would have been in favor of just deleting your post. Sour grapes is an understatement. It's one thing if you were to say you didnt like his film. Its even ok to say you think he's too tall to be a running back .. and that you think he'll end up at wideout. But you're calling one of the best backs in this class a bust? Off of what? Cause he didnt pick our school? Come on bro. We're better than that.

I dont even think he's a top 3-4 back in this class, but he's a DAMN good back. I would have liked him here.

For the record, I'm not sure you're not a Bucks fan or a Sparty fan .. so if you are, just disregard this whole post.

  • It sucks Michigan didn't get Isaac but at least Michigan is getting players that are bigger. I appreciate guys like Gallon but at 5'8 he can only do so much. At least all of the receivers that Michigan has picked up the last couple of years are above 6 feet. Hopefully Treadwell signs with Michigan because it's getting old reading all of the "we don't get elite playmakers" talk.

  • Isaac is a great back and will be a great back. It just doesn't hurt as much since we already have great one in Deveon. Deveon's balance and power is unreal and borderline video game-ish. We all wanted Ty, but the kid didn't want us. No reason to get red ass and bash each other over a recruit. USC beat us out over a great recruit, I can only hope we do the same in the near future. There are still some great backs in this class that we can land...and if not...use the schollie elsewhere. We're not giving Deveon his due credit....he is every bit the back that Isaac is, he just doesn't have break away speed. Neither did Mike Hart and look what he did for UM. If you ask me...it's more important to have game breakers at the WR position if anything. I see great running backs as backs that move the chains and wear down a defense all game long. Lets suck it up...move on...and close out strong. goblue

Agreed. Ty is a great back. I mean hell, I'd be hard pressed to choose Michigan if I got to visit USC and saw the beach, the women, and 70 degree weather in the winter time. I wish I went to USC as a regular student lol.

That being said, and offensive line can make any back look good. Ty would have been phenomenal behind the hosses we're bringing in, but they'll be able to make a good back look great.

I wish Ty all the best. I hope he's a great running back and when we face him in the Rose Bowl, we smack him around like we used to do Ron Dayne.

I've said from the beginning I really like Smith, in some ways more then Isaac. Still annoys me that USC can swoop in and steal a midwest recruit despite all their issues. Our spots are getting tight though so hopefully we can turn this around on USC and steal Mathis.

Joe Mathis will be playing JC ball next year. Kid won't qualify.

  • I'm not gonna lie about it, I really, really wanted Isaac. And after the initial disappointment, I'm coming to accept that scheme-wise USC may be a better choice for him. USC employs a zone blocking system, and I argued before Isaac is best suited as a one-cut runner in a zone blocking scheme. Not that he wouldn't have been successful with the man-blocking schemes at Michigan. It took Fitz a little time to adapt but he used to be a zone runner in HS too. Look at him now. But to a degree, Isaac already proved that he can excel in that one-cut style of running, and that's what he's going to do at USC.

But there are so many factors here. Coaching stability is definitely big, and anybody who dismisses that risk with Kiffin is blind. GL Issac.

If successful, he'll probably jump on a pro offer.

That is not an irrational take. However, Lane has said multiple times that USC is his dream job. In it for the long haul, IMO.
