To me, any offense is a threat to score on ANY given play. Some clubs are more of a threat than others. I am growing tired of the "we dont have enough elite talent to win NCs" comments. Those arguments fly directly in the face our coaching staff. Thats what coaches do. We will have peices in place to compete for a NC very soon. Let's allow our staff to form a TEAM of smart, solid players to form one elite unit... Teams 133, 134.....

Well, those arguments are also true. In college football, gamebreaking athletes can make all the difference, and it's really hard to raise the glass football without them. Can you think of a recent national champion that didn't feature at least one gamebreaking skill guy on offense?
I know the coaches are not content with merely solid talent and are looking to bring in guys with real elite potential, as evidenced by how hard they went after Isaac and are still going after guys like Green, Treadwell, Bailey, Daniels, LaRue, etc. I'm not concerned about the coaches' mindset in terms of who they're targeting, I think they're totally on the right page in going after elite guys who could be the basis of a national title team. However, it should be concerning when we fail to land those guys. Especially when the athlete in question is Ty Isaac, who's been one of our top targets since forever, who's from the Midwest, who took a ton of visits to us, etc. It's totally legit to be concerned about that.

I'm disappointed that Isaac picked USC over Michigan especially since he's from the Midwest.
Anyways, I hope that the coaches extend an offer to Kamani Thomas.
Also, Derrick Green has grown on me in recent months but I still want to see how he performs as a senior.

Well, that's problematic if he actively doesn't care about being relevant nationally. Winning the B1G is pointless if we just go on to get stomped in the Rose Bowl or NCG, we should want to be competitive. "This is Michigan fergodsakes," we're the winningest program of all time, our goals should be higher than beating 11 other Midwestern teams.
That said, I'm pretty sure Hoke's goals are actually higher than merely winning the B1G, and the players he's targeting are definitely of the caliber to compete on a national level. I just don't think we should pretend that it's not a blow when we miss out on those targets.

Yeah but how many have we missed on compared to how many we have landed.

ThomasAll grade out at 95 or above on 247 which is Isaacs grade. Then you can add in a handful or more that grade out just below 95 that we have landed in the last 2 classes. Hoke is hitting on a lot of his targets.

Eh, Smith looks slow to me. He can't outrun his highschool competition. This has of course probably helped him develop the very mature running style of which he uses the great vision and quick feet you mentioned to get up field unlike most highschool runners. But honestly, I don't see how he's going to ever break a big one without a convoy of blockers ahead of him. If we want team to be truely elite, then we need the offense to be a threat to score on every play, and the players to make that happen.

I agree, like everyone I've been really pleased with the commits Hoke's been getting the past two classes. I'm not trying to say he isn't getting anyone, I'm just saying its dumb to pretend its not a blow when Ty Isaac goes to USC over us, and its dumb to pretend like having elite playmakers at skill positions doesn't matter.

idk why everyone is so high on ty he isn't as good as people think. He plays against weak talent that make him look good. He is way to tall to be a back in college Trust me Sc will make him into a WR beside he wont be able to beat out the RBs they will be bringing in. He has bust written all over him. The kid will end up at some Mac school back in the midwest book it.
