I hope we look at a new RB coach next year

  • I'm not impressed with the RB's over the past 3-6 years. I still can't explain why I see Vincent Smith ahead of Thomas Rawls on a regular basis.

    Welllll

  • Fred Jackson has been here for 20 years and coached some of the greatest RBs in Michigan history. He's leaving when he wants to leave.

Also, why did you say "we"?

  • Fred Jackson is a treasure. He is arguably our best recruiter. Has numerous in state ties with high school coaches. His time will come when he decides to step down and when he does Tyrone or Mike will step in and fill his shoes

  • This is actually hilarious. Look through the OP's post history. He has pretended to be a UM, MSU, and OSU fan.

  • Fred Jackson is like Bo Schembechler, Bear Bryant, and Fielding Yost all rolled up into one.

Then why are we whiffing on top RB's? Fitz has taken a step back and Rawls still doesn't understand the blitz schemes.

I would love to see a young guy in here coaching the RB's.

Have you heard of Chris Perry, Anthony Thomas, Mike Hart, Tshimanga Biakabutuka, or Tyrone Wheatley?

And again with the "we" thing..

+1. Knows how to get people to respond. Gotta give him that. Maybe he's in school and it's a human behavior project.

Nah, probably just f-ing around, lol.

    Censorship is your answer, son?

Nothing I've posted is false. I don't blow sunshine.

Because, as you apparently fail to understand, coaches don't recruit based on position. Fred Jackson has had a hand in landing every single instate recruit since Hoke arrived. He's been the major factor in cutting Dantonio's balls off in instate recruiting.

  • I'm gonna agree with the op. I am a big homer but can also recognize a position that underachieves on a regular basis. Why has nearly every team we played this year have better backs than us? Firkin Iowas 7th stringer (Weismann?) looked better than anything we have.

  • It is funny. Last year when FT was leading the Big 10 in yards, didn't hear anyone complaining.

This year, he is on the chopping block.

ROFL. People need to get a grip. Iowa's running backs lood good...really? lol

  • I didn't say he was talented. But he ran with good technique and power.

While I'm not sure we need to look for a new coach we do need more consistent performances from our running backs. All of the backs you mention here are at least five years removed from Michigan football.

Our backs are constantly dancing behind the line of scrimmage he must not be a big teacher of getting the frickin ball up the field, sideways is not helping anyone but the defense.

I would like to see a tougher more decisive approach from our running backs. Iowa's seventh string running back should not outperform any of the three we use on a somewhat regular basis.

Fitz really struggled this year and it hurt us in every loss this season. Jackson refused to play a different RB.

All I hear in the spring is how good Rawls looks and how he "runs angry." To me, the RB recruiting & coaching has been sub-par for the last 3-5 years.

I can promise Michigan gets negative recruited by other coaches concerning FJ age and his pattern of playing one RB 80% of the time.

    Welllll

  • I'll unlock this if you guys really want to have a discussion about RBs, but it's not going anywhere with this guy shrug

Been sub-par for 3-5 years? You mean during RR's spread offense where the RB was barely used and now with the terrible offensive line?

So Fitz's struggles has hurt us in every loss this season?

Alabama loss= Fitz didnt even play
    ND Loss= A billion tos
NU loss= Denard goes down and our backup was not ready. On this one I partially blame the coaches for not having the backups more prepared to play.

So none of our losses are on Fitz imo.

Like it or not son, the RB is a position of weakness on this team. Look at next year, we'll have Fitz coming off an injury and Rawls.

We whiffed on the kid who went to USC and Green is going to the SEC.

    Welllll

  • I'll bite. The RB/RB coaching situation is fine. The o line play has slipped a little this year, and Fitz seems to be hesitant going north and south. This will all improve as Michigan moves to "under center" formations.
