How Do Big Ten Leaders QBs Stack Up?

Since we are into the thick of spring football, we thought it might be interesting to survey the Big Ten schools for where they each stand at the quarterback position.

We look at the quarterback depth at all six Leaders schools and rate those units in the division.

  • My personal rankings at QB:
    1. Illinois - Scheelhaase is back for a 3rd year and completes >60% of his passes. Losing Zook has to help more than losing Jenkins hurts.
    2. Ohio State - Miller should be great in Meyer's offense, even if he doesn't put up huge passing numbers he'll be a big threat.
    3. Wisconsin - DOB should be pretty good with Ball and that mauling o-line. I also really like Bart Houston.
    4. Penn State - McGloin is a fine game manager and Bolden still has a chance to be special.
    5. Purdue - 3 serviceable guys, but don't think any of the three can get them to 8 wins...
    6. Indiana - I do not envy Kevin Wilson...

I think those first 4-5 are bundled tightly. I did debate Scheelhaase/Illinois as No. 1 because he has made 26 starts. But he still hasn't beaten a good team yet, has he?

Purdue won 7 last year, so I don't think 8 or 9 is a stretch. I have them with 7 wins just by showing up and then they can try and steal wins from ND, Michigan, Wisconsin, OSU or Iowa.
