Has Hoke recruited too many playmakers?

  • Looking at the 2013 and 2012 classes, I just can't seem to wrap my head around what Hoke's plan is. Doesn't he understand that he can only put so many playmakers on the field at once? We're not talking about offensive linemen here, where at least 5 of them HAVE to play at a time. Why take a player like Derrick Green when Smith, Shallman, and Dymonte Thomas, already in the class, all play the same position? Taking a 7th OL would've made much more sense. Seriously, what is this guy thinking?

    Yea I completely agree....why would we need to take Derrick Green when Shallman is already on board. We should have used D Greens scholly on another long snapper.

    Yeah I hated to see Ryan leave, but he felt he didnt fit RR's offense
    On the other hand ND has picked up plenty of great players who were a bust as well

  • Also, wanna hear a funny joke? Bucknuts say how many OL we are recruiting, but we have the same number of scholarship OL as they do. Actually it might be different now that they lost O'Connor.

    Also, what awesome playmakers do they have? Jalin Marshall is good but has never played WR. Ezekiel Elliot is almost as good as DeVeon Smith and Derrick Green but is looking at Missouri. That's.... about it.

    and they are planning on taking 5 OL in the 2014 class. It's funny to them when we take a lot of OL, but it's ok for them to take that many. stupid bucknuts.

    EzE is a different back than those 2. Marshall will be $$$$ and Jacobs is elusive and runs a 4.2 or something ridiculous We'll see what happens with Wilson, Clark and Timmons come signing day.

    We both have solid classes unlike the rest of the pathetic B1G. Hope they stay healthy so we can legit argue who's class was better in a few years. Same goes for last years classes that were close

    If Jacobs ran a 4.2, he wouldn't be a 3 star with an unimpressive offer list.

    Have you ever been to Bucknuts? Every thread is about how stupid we are for overloading on OL and not recruiting "playmakers". That's why we start threads like this and the scraps at OL thread.

    Eh, I'm pretty sure our entire OL thread is more making fun of quantity, not quality.

    Besides, it clearly isn't as easy as saying: "If you need OL you go get them." 2013 is pretty much evidence that there's more to it than that.

    Have you watched Jacobs highlight film? If he runs a 4.2 then every other terrible football player in his video runs a 4.25 because he wasn't pulling away from any of the corner-backs by much at all. The competition he plays against is terrible as well.

    Also, there's the whole thing about how the fastest player ever timed only ran a 4.24, so a 4.2 is pretty much impossible for a middling 3-star.

  • A source told me Jalin Marshall wanted Michigan to recruit him and we would've been his clear favorite, but coach Hoke told him Treadwell was our top priority so he committed to OSU shortly after.

    Let the bucknuts spin it all they want, even their number one elite playmaker is our #scraps.
