He hasn't been to campus yet but as soon as he does I'm sure the staff will inform of how great the engineering program is

Sounds very highly of Michigan and hasn't even visited yet. Dang.
Must have not liked his OSU visit.

Judging from his comments, I get a good feeling about him. Seems to be a kid that is right in Hoke and his staff's wheelhouse.

Guess I commented on the wrong thread for this. This sounds great for us. Loving our staff plus a desire for good academics. Can someone compare our engineering program to these other schools? He hasn't even visited yet...cool!

We are #7 according these rankings.
Virginia Tech: #24
North Carolina: #31
USCe: #93
Alabama: #109
A pretty huge lead over all the rest it seems.

According to another site, Derrick Green is good friends with Hand and keeps in touch with him. Also, his high school coach is good friends with Mattison. There are a lot of tailwinds with this kid, and we will be in it till the end. Here are all the positives:
-Likes our coaching staff the best out of the others in his top 5
-Is a Hoke type recruit that is humble and not egotistical
-UM's engineering school is highly regarded
-Derrick Green is good friends with him
-High school coach is good friends with Mattison
-We are in his top 5 and he hasn't even visited the campus, academic counselors, facilities etc...

I was thinking that same thing as soon as I seen the thread... landing the Top 2 DE's in the country seems like an actual possibility right now. Pass rushing woes would obviously be left in the past.

It looks like a possibility sure. Obviously Michigan has a lot better chance with McDowell. Wolverines just need to get Hand on campus ASAP and chances go way up from there if he has a positive visit.

Yeah, I have to imagine that Derrick Green committing (and maybe having a really good year next year) would go a long way towards getting Hand. Having another kid from VA come in and star right away at Michigan would help an incredible amount.
