I give us at least 51% with Hand and 35% with Peppers. I'm being deliberately conservative on Peppers until he takes his Stanford and LSU visits - then we'll know where we stand. I still think Hand comes to Michigan, but it'll take so much work from the coaching staff.

Based on the Michigan insiders here at 247, I am feelin good about both. Long way to go, but UM has put itself at the top for both. Can't ask for much more.

I was bummed about Treadwell as well. Feeling better on Hand and Peppers.

We were warlynoffers and early favorites with both of those and we faded when they looked around. With these guys, they have been around the block before seeing what we had to offer. Kinda tbe reverse here....

If possible, I'd say Michigan is in an even BETTER position for Peppers than they were for Green in the sense that outside of LSU, Peppers doesn't seem to have much of an interest in the SEC. Green was at least flirting with that idea, but Peppers is unimpressed. The SEC is the group that's going to be chasing Peppers the hardest down the line, the same way they were Green, so it helps that Peppers doesn't have much of an SEC interest.

ND, OSU and Michigan are going to battle over a lot of Midwestern (NJ/VA area isn't Midwestern, but I throw them in being that the B1G has a lot of luck with NJ/VA/East coast) talent -- but outside of those three, it seems like the SEC is going to be the consistent competition for these guys (as opposed to your Texas's, Oklahoma's, USC's, etc). OSU is going through that currently with Clifton Garrett, Michigan last year with Green and Treadwell.

VT is the team to beat for Hand. Only way I can see UM overtaking them is if VT has a disatrous season, and rumors begin to circulate around Blacksburg that the game has passed Beamer by. Maybe the football gods owe us one after the Macho Harris recruitment.

Word on Peppers is encouraging, but no point reading too much into it until after he visits LSU and Stanford.

I think Peppers just doesn't like Urban's personality compared to Hoke's. Makes sense since one is a genuine person and the other will say anything to land a recruit..
