Green's Impact On Michigan

Derrick Green's commitment impacts Michigan football in more way than one. Find out why his commitment is the biggest in Coach Hoke's tenure.

  • Love the quote from Smith. That type of competition will make them both a lot better. If they can be half as good as Gurley/Marshall, I'll be happy.

Also, did not know that he and Hand were friends. That makes this even better.

  • Can't say enough about how satisfying this must be for the coaches. They went all in for him.

  • Ok all 3 of Clint, Steve1 and Steve2 have a Green article up right away. I am convinced they all knew last night.

Smith/Green won't have as cool a nickname, so they'll just have to outperform Gurshall on the field.

Sweet Jesus. I didn't even think about the VA connection, I've been focusing solely on 2013 today. This could have a domino effect considering all the talent coming out of VA in the coming years.

definitely could be a big help with all the VA talent but they mentioned in the article that Green and Hand are "good friends" so he could give us an extra boost in his recruitment!

The stars seem to be aligning for Michigan with Hand .... hard to ignore the 'signs'.

So, I have this crazy ass idea. Everyone is trying to find a way to use Dennis Norfleet more. My idea is to continue to use him on ST and to also use him as a triple option QB. You use it as a change up offense and to force opponents to waste time preparing for it during game week. Norfleet at QB, Shallman at FB and Green at RB. Basically, you just need to teach Norfleet to read defenses and pitch the ball properly. And maybe you only spring it once or twice a game, like teams do now with the wildcat. It would be very difficult to defend, especially in short yardage situations, and all three of Norfleet, Shallman and Green would be homerun threats if they get loose.

Very interesting. Hopefully the coaches start getting creative - with our running game poised to be as good as it is, we can have some fun with misdirections that build off our runs. Fortunately, the coaches will also have multiple years of all of these guys in the program, so we've got plenty of time to see some fun things come together.

For me, if we're not redshirting either of the backs this year, I want to see a modified wildcat pistol with Green, Smith, Shallman, and Rawls. We ran it a couple times with Denard and a few of our backs in the OSU game, but this would just be practically a flying wedge, and mass confusion from the D because any of those backs could carry the ball, and they're all at least 215 pounds.
