That is a great article, and since Creighton and Duke both lost last night, I'd say Burke has a very good shot at becoming POY frontrunner with a win tonight!

Unless Burke slips, I think it comes down to him and McDermott (Creighton). Even in our loss to OSU, the one in which the perception seems to be Craft shut him down, Burke had 15 pts, 4 rb and 4 asst. He had a few extra TOs in that game and Craft should get credit for that, but it says a lot about Burke if holding him to 15 pts (3 pts below his avg) is considered shutting him down.

Completely agree with this statement. To me, McDermott has been very overrated this season. No doubt he is an outstanding player, but I always like to ask myself one question for these type of player of the year awards: Who would I rather have on my team. No matter the roster, coach, system, or conference, who would I rather have on my team? To me, there is no doubt that I would rather have Trey Burke on my team. McDermott puts up a lot of points and is a great player, but Burke brings in dimensions that nobody else in the country is doing right now. Things could easily change over the next few months, but for now, I just don't see the argument outside of stats in favor of McDermott.

Am I right in my research that Cazzie Russell is our only POY in program history in 1966? Glen Rice was 1989's MOP in the tourney.
