    Why in the hell would GT be a better pick up than those 2? Outside of Maryland's dumpster fire of an athletic department, what else does GT bring to the table that those 2 already do? Plus even if its a money grab, which it is, it's SEC country, the Big ten can try to force it upon cable providers, but they have a choice in the manner as well. If there isn't sufficient projected viewers, which will happen, they won't take the channel regardless of what the big 10 wants.

  • Been saying Georgia Tech is my #1 realistic hope for expansion for a while, so pleased by this. Ideal #16 is Miami...VTech, or UNC would do very nicely as well, or (pipe dream) if GTech moving forces Notre Dame to realize the ACC is crumbling and come to us, that would be pretty cool too.

    Would really like to get Texas, but Big 12 schools are a non-starter given the grant of rights they signed, sighduck.

    I like this move. IMO we are bringing in 2 teams right now .... GT and probably another team in SEC country. Smart. People need to look beyond the schools, and focus on B10 exposure for EVERYONE in SEC country.

    I have been a fan of ND joining this whole time. I am starting to lean towards the eff them crowd. Take teams that expand the footprint, ND doesn't do that.

  • Not sure why we would care that much about who it goes to 16 or even 20 with. We would be in the division without any of those new Eastern teams so we would play them about twice the rest of our lives.

    That's actually the most important point. Schools who aren't members or who won't qualify for the application won't be admitted. Nebraska lost their status during their B1G application process and the conference supposedly went nuts behind closed doors. They're just not going to make a sports only move like we'd like.

    I agree, it is very important to them. But if ND wanted to join (a non AAU member), they would not block them, not for a second.

    Agreed, but as far as private institutions go they're top notch.

    Yeah, I think we are agreed on this.

    But as far as some state schools...no way they get in. West Virginia or Oklahoma State, for example. Both would have issues. That is why when people bring up Oklahoma, I laugh. Just isn't going to happen.

    Now, Florida State is a good example of one that, like Nebraska, may get a break. Solid institution, maybe a step below the traditional Big 10 school, but is basically a 'state' school and is respected in some areas. I think they would make an excuse for them.
