  • 19 days! Looking forward to a great experience in Dallas and what should be a fantastic game to start the season. It's great to see two traditional powerhouses duking it out.

How are y'all feeling about the game? Alabama's retooled and young secondary makes me nervous against Michigan's experienced QB.

Here's to a good time in Big D!

A home and home would be great. Maybe some day...

I am not expecting a Michigan win, but I can see it happening. Dline coming together and living up to their potential will be key.

  • Very excited. I think the biggest thing will be our DL against your OL. Your OL is easily (one of) the best in CFB next year, and our DL has a lot of question marks. You'll probably be able to just bowl right over us and rush for a good 6 yards every time down the middle. Scares the crap out of me.

I think our offense has a chance to be productive-ish as long as we keep you guessing, which Borges can do. If we get stale and you get to Denard too often, it'll be a long game. If Denard has improved his passing and our WRs can step up (like converted QB Devin Gardner), they could actually do well.

A lot of question marks for us.

Best case scenario - we have Fitzgerald Toussaint as our starting RB, Denard has made a ton of strides in the passing game, and our DL lives up to their billing (Campbell is a good NT, Black puts on weight and makes a good 3-tech). We stay in the game late and pull out a close victory.

Worst case scenario - the opposite of above. Denard gets dinged up, our DL gets terrorized, and our offense can't move. We get blown out.

Either way, it'll be a lot of fun being in Dallas and playing the National Champions. At least a loss here won't kill our season. Still favorites for the Big Ten Championship and this contest will just prepare us better.

Your secondary shouldn't worry you. Denard is (obviously) not known for torching secondaries. Unless he made some pretty big strides in his accuracy and decision making, you should be fine. I'm really looking forward to the game and it should be a great promotional tool for both schools, regardless of the outcome. goblue

  • Just 17 more days!
I don't remember looking forward to an opener this much. Gonna be great football played that day. Two traditional powerhouses with an entire offseason to gameplan and get hyped for each other. Borges has caused Coach Saban and our DC Smart fits before. We have a new OC Nussmeier who we're breaking in. Young players on both teams. Strong leadership by veteran players on both teams.
Friends! Romans! Countrymen! Lend me your ears!
    THIS IS COLLEGE FOOTBALL!!!

Yeah, I sounded extremely arrogant there, didn't I, along with the op. Just a bunch of arrogant Bama fans that need to come back to reality.

  • The new OC/system also gives me pause. Even though our offense returns a lot of talent, I worry that there might be kinks to work out. Which is not what you want to be doing against a team as good as Michigan.

Did I quote you? Didn't think so. Now as far as arrogant Bama fans go, try reading some of the threads about this game on the Blue Board. I stand by my statement of Bama fans becoming really arrogant.

  • Michigan could very well be 1-3 to start the season.

I commend you for scheduling such a tough start, but a Bama bet down could set to the tone for a tough year.

Michigan will not start 1-3. Hoke won't let the Bama game effect the rest of the year in anyway. Barring a season ending injury to a very important player of course but that could happen against anyone.

And Notre Dame could be 6-6 on the year with their brutal schedule. I can potentially foresee the future too? I also don't think losing to Bama would lead to us losing to Air Force or Eastern. 2-2 is our floor for the first 4 games IMO.

  • I'm not referring to any one fan in general...I'm saying the SEC needs to see their best team get throttled by someone not in their conference to bring them back to reality of the rest of the country is pretty good in football too. Geez settle down guys

The Notre Dame guy warning us about 1-3.no Shocked if we are any worse than 3-1.

Could get ugly in South Bend this year, just saying.

back to reality? really? no offense but our best teams havent even been beat by teams outside the SEC in years, much less throttled. I would say that the "reality" is that the top of the SEC is just that much better than everyone else. so IMO while we may get a little cocky at times about our football, we have the right to be, and we ARE living in reality until other teams can prove us wrong on a consistent basis.

on a side note, i am very much looking forward to the opener and have a lot of respect for the program CBH is building at Michigan.

    Arrogant or confident?

I would imagin that if UM was having our kind of success on the field and on the recruiting trail, UM would be a little bit more confident too.. It just comes with the territory man. You win you have the right to be proud. All that behind me now, I can truly say that UM is on the right track recruiting mainly OL and DL difference makers. Taking the all the right steps for sure. Gonna be a great game in a couple of weeks!
