Great stuff there. Those were two great games, and he made huge plays to seal the deal in both of them. Definitely an outstanding ambassador for Michigan both on and off the field.

  • He came in at #20? Who is ahead of him on the list?

Red Grange, Tom Harmon, Dick Butkus, Bronko Nagurski, Bob Griese, Rod Woodson, Archie Griffin, Nile Kinnick, Tommie Frazier? I'm not sure who else could possibly be ahead of him. Have not seen who was behind him either. B1G has had great football for over 100 years so it is hard to say. I know there was a guy Yost said was the greatest ever but can not think of who.

    I found the list:

    20 - Charles Woodson
    19 - Suzy Favor-Hamilton
    18 - Jack Nicklaus
    17 - Steve Alford
    16 - John Cappalletti
    15 - Dave Winfield
    14 - Otto Graham
    13 - Ron Dayne
    12 - John Wooden
    11 - Mark Spitz
    10 - Isaiah Thomas
    09 - Rick Mount
    08 - Jerry Lucas
    07 - Nile Kinnick
    06 - Dick Butkus
    05 - Tom Harmon
    04 - Archie Griffin
    03 - Jesse Owens
    02 - Magic Johnson
    01 - Red Grange

I'm not sure what criteria these were based upon because there is a lot here that doesn't make sense to me.

It could have hurt him in these rankings that he left early for the draft. shrug

I don't think he really bulked up till he got to the NFL. At one point during his NFL career, I believe I remember hearing that he weighed over 240, if not 250.

I'd probably put Woodson at 3rd. It be hard to put him ahead of Owens for all the gold medals and shutting the Nazi's up. Magic I would put tied with Woodson. Red Grange though basically took the NFL from a club sport to a spectator sport. Hard to argue the 6 TD's he put up on us inone game with a short amount of playing time too.

  • Just so people know, that list is supposed to be based only on that person's accomplishment's while a student-athlete. There professional lives after that are not supposed to count. They also put a lot of emphasis on the non-athletic impacts of each person while trying to balance this list out amongst sports.
