It was 1988, Michigan was playing msu, and the winner was going to the rose bowl. My brother sky had an msu sweatshirt and he said, "come on Kyle cheer for state, green is your favorite color!" " I was like mmmm no, I kinda like this other team." The helmets , the uni's , everything about them I loved. That day was the first day I found football, and I've loved it ever since. Could it have been that I wanted to cheer against skip? Maybe... But it could have been a lot of things. The only thing I do know is that we all have had that moment, a moment of clarity, where it all makes sense. I knew then and there that Michigan was my first true love.

These stories have been great to read. I loved ducksworth post and I can really relate to awink. Each story is unique but we all do have that bond. It seems fairly ubiquitous in that no matter when or where you found the wolverines, that feeling encompassed all of us. That's why I love sharing my Passion with everyone on this board. Thanks Todd!

I agree - the newer posters stand out to me. It's easy for me and you to be fans because we got to see the glory of 1997 and the wonder years of Carr, but some of these guys have been following adamantly for only a few years (RR years and maybe the end of Carr). It's impressive to become a fan through those years

I was actually an OSU fan growing up, we lived in Ohio until I was 13. We moved to Michigan, and I had divided loyalties.
But I then went to UM. My first game, very first one, was against Notre Dame with Desmond Howard catching the leaping dive into the endzone on 4th and 1 in 1991. I actually sat maybe 50 feet from the catch. That season, along with the Fab Five, cemented my love for Michigan. I still have a soft spot for OSU (don't hate me), but I am blue all the way through.
