Five-Star "Comfortable" At Michigan

Michigan hosted the nation's top offensive guard in Braden Smith this week, and the Wolverines left an impression on the Olathe (Kan.) South standout.

  • Steve, you really think the visit went well enough for us to get an Official?and what kind of timeline does he have for a Decision?

  • I feel like a lot of visitors end up "luckily running into" Denard Robinson, which makes me think the coaches arrange that and I love it.

Saying I am "comfortable" at the playboy mansion isn't saying that I am not absolutely in love with the place.

Now if we only could get Tom Brady, Charles Woodson, Jake Long and Lamar Woodley to "luckily" run into some of these recruits while on their visits.

Things recruits say should be taken in a case-by-case basis, based on the type of person. In this instance, my guess would be that what he said is a good thing for Michigan, and interest is trending upwards.

Excellent point/perspective. Braden definitely seems to be the low key type, and I interpreted "comfortable" in a manner similar to you. And I think the focus shouldn't be on the word "comfortable" (his father said that his soon looked "comfortable" out there - how about "at home?" similar levels of comfort), but his father also said Braden "really liked" Coach Hoke, which is about as good a reaction as it gets.

  • I'm definitely a fan of Smith. It would be a nice interior with Smith, Mason Cole at the Guards and Tommy Doles at Center. Just add Alex Bars, Jamarco Jones, JBB or Roderick Johnson at Tackle and I would be ecstatic with this class!

How did is visit compare to the Ohio one, did he enjoy one more? I know the homer who writes for the ESPN bukeye nation site (and man they spin everything in a glowing Ohio light which is annoying) said they "hit a homerun." A few months ago when they offered a random DE, he said "Urban Meyer has done it again, extending an offer to the D-Line" like big f'n deal man.

I disagree, that one night where Treadwell was eating chicken parmesan did not bode well for his recruitment to Michigan....that was the turning point.

Braden Smith's recruitment is somewhat puzzling because most believe he is a guard. I was under the impression that we successfully rebuilt our o-line depth and would not be taking as many lineman in this class. According to the experts, already committed Mason Cole is a guard and probable commit Tommy Doles is a center/guard. It seems to me that if we take another o-line beyond those two, it would be a tackle, preferably a natural left tackle. Are they looking at Smith as a right tackle possibly?
