Fitz and Frank Clark suspended

  • hailbigblue said...

Unless something amazing comes out of Clarks trial the 11th he should be suspended the whole year. I'm fine with Fitz getting 1 game. Good job Hoke.

Is Clarks situation emblematic of Stonum? He gets redshirted the whole year, then on a tight leash and will have to prove himself the rest of his Michigan career?

  • Glad he's our coach. Idiotic moves by both player and now they're paying for it as they should.

Agreed, it's awesome to see this and then look at things like the OSU players playing in the Sugar Bowl and what Sumlin just did to "suspend" his players

  • Hey guys,
I've got a lot of mixed emotions about this.
On one hand, I am so thankful a coach at a major university made this kind of a stand for decency. On the other hand, I truly wanted to see y'all at full force. So, in the end, I will say the right choice was made, period.

Now, meet us in Miami, with no suspensions, and I'll really be happy.

    Roll Tide every game.

Go Blue except in Dallas & Miami.

Couldn't agree more - we'll gladly take a rematch. cheers

I don't think that the backup Rawls is better than Toussiant, but at 5-10, 220lb, he provides a inside thumping counterbalance to Denard. I honestly think the drop-off won't be too severe there, and while he may not crack 3 YPC, I think Rawls will churn out some good yards.

  • Bkp,
I wasn't talking about drop off, I just mean y'all are better at full roster. I hate playing a game against a team that's short a playmaker. At the end of the day I want to know we measured ourselves against the best. I believe Michigan is ranked #8 out of all of college football for a reason. They are one of the best. I also believe Fitz & Mr. Clark are a part of the starting lineup for a reason.
I can't be any prouder of Hoke for standing up for the right thing (I think the more this happens the better it is for our children, culture, country, & future). It's just what I said earlier, meet us in Miami with no suspensions, I want to see a true "Clash of the Titans"

  • This will hurt for the game, but good for the program.

And if Michigan loses by 1 possession it's an excuse i'm willing to fall back on for a rematch lol.

I don't think he meant this board. Just go over to the Blue Board, they have a 11 page thread about it, and, to put it nicely, the first 8 pages are a mess.

Thank you, that is exactly what I was talking about.

Agreed! Burns me up to see players act so foolishly when they have the world at their finger tips. Good Luck against the Tide tomorrow! This Canes fan will be pulling for you guys. I am watching the game with a buddy who is a big Wolverines fan.

Truth be told, the dropoff isn't that great because Toussiant isnt really that good. The defense keying on Denard makes half his yards possible. Denard is that big of a threat. Not that Fitz is bad, but he is just not a gamebreaker.

He did the same for Shaw. Whoever is in the backfield with Robinson will be good enough, even if just for the diversion that someone other than the QB has the ball.

  • This was the right decision. Glad Hoke holds his players accountable, and gives proper punishment when needed.

  • Not trying to be inflammatory...you gameplan around Denard. You don't for Toussiant. He's no Adrian Peterson, McFadden, Reggie Bush, even (gasp) Beanie Wells. He is a decent back. Not a great one.

This is not an attack on you, or Fitz.

He's a vital part of our offense. And he's a top 10 CFB runningback. Not sure how that constitutes as decent.

Not a great year for college RBs. When he comes out for the NFL draft I'm sure you will see him termed as "decent" (at best).

Nevertheless, top 10 when you are strictly talking about CFB is better than decent.

Not sure he's in the top 10...before Silas Redd left PSU I would have had him 4th best back...in the Big Ten. Ball and Bell far and away best, Redd and Fitz the 2nd tier, with Burkhead

Nationally, you have Knile Davis, Kenjon Barner and D'anthony Thomas at Oregon, Spencer Ware at LSU, Lattimore at South Carolina...all above Fitz.

Like I said, he's decent. A good player. Certainly not elite

That's quite a threat...so much easier than an intelligent retort.

Thanks for the warning though that this debate was about to degenerate.

Too bad Toussiant isn't playing, always want to watch teams play at full strength.

    Best of luck.

That would be said for any team Denard played for. If Denard was Bama's QB(save me the tired argument of he wouldn't be a QB at Bama) then Michigan would be game planning around Denard. The fact is Fitz is a very good back and someone that can make you pay for paying too much attention to Denard. We honestly don't know what we have in Rawls as he had very limited carries last year. Vincent Smith is more of a 3rd down back. Fitz not playing gives us a big unknown at RB.

Neither made the trip to Dallas, per Hoke release.

Great call! They both should sit out. The fact it is the AL game must really sting both of them. Good! I hope it burns long and hard. Lesson learned.

    Bravo Hoke.
