Can someone explain to me why we have a SOS in the 60s and Florida has a SOS in the 20s when we have played Wisconsin x3, Ohio x2, MSU x2, Indiana x2, Kansas State and Pitt and they have played Marquette, Georgetown, Kansas State, Wisconsin, and Arizona. That's 11 top 25 teams for Michigan to 5 for Florida yet they have an SOS 40 spots ahead of us?

As anticipated Michigan is picked as an early loss by many analysts. While many see us losing to VCU, a few even say that South Dakota State will beat us.
Is it still an upset if everyone's saying it? I recall last year the same was said ahead of the Ohio game and those analysts were proven right. It seems Michigan is acquiring a reputation as a soft team that's going to falter when the going gets tough.
IF we do lose on the first weekend again - where does that put Beilein as a coach and us as a program? Beilein has never been to the Final Four and the 2nd weekend of the tourney has been a rare sight for him in his career as well. It can't be good for recruiting to be considered a massively overrated team going into the tournament especially if those haters were to be proven right.
I think making the Sweet Sixteen would be fine, I don't think a competitive game and loss vs. Kansas would be held against the program but a loss vs SD State or VCU could be poison to Michigan hoops' desired renaissace.
