I would love to see Kentucky not make it in. They prob will though just out of respect for their program and their fan base who travels well.

  • Can someone explain to me why we have a SOS in the 60s and Florida has a SOS in the 20s when we have played Wisconsin x3, Ohio x2, MSU x2, Indiana x2, Kansas State and Pitt and they have played Marquette, Georgetown, Kansas State, Wisconsin, and Arizona. That's 11 top 25 teams for Michigan to 5 for Florida yet they have an SOS 40 spots ahead of us? confused

We don't have a SOS in the 60s. The RPI formula is 75% comprised of the W-L percentage of your opponents and your opponents' opponents and that portion of the RPI is sometimes referred to as SOS. But it's not SOS in any traditional sense. If you are arguing with Cope, just point out that our Kenpom SOS is 13 and our Sagarin SOS is 10. Those are the traditional SOS rankings most people care about.

I can think of no one I'd rather see get caught in a sex scandal with an unattractive coed. And that includes Urbs.

I think it would be pretty epic if Saban went down for that.

  • As anticipated Michigan is picked as an early loss by many analysts. While many see us losing to VCU, a few even say that South Dakota State will beat us.

Is it still an upset if everyone's saying it? I recall last year the same was said ahead of the Ohio game and those analysts were proven right. It seems Michigan is acquiring a reputation as a soft team that's going to falter when the going gets tough.

IF we do lose on the first weekend again - where does that put Beilein as a coach and us as a program? Beilein has never been to the Final Four and the 2nd weekend of the tourney has been a rare sight for him in his career as well. It can't be good for recruiting to be considered a massively overrated team going into the tournament especially if those haters were to be proven right.

I think making the Sweet Sixteen would be fine, I don't think a competitive game and loss vs. Kansas would be held against the program but a loss vs SD State or VCU could be poison to Michigan hoops' desired renaissace.

Well I don't listen to the blowhard analysts so they can say whatever they want.

People act like last year was a bad job by Coach B. He took a less talented team to a conference title. Got upset in the first round so one can see he exceeded expectations in the regular season but underachieved in the tourney. Which basically washes out in my opinion. Coach B has done a good job in getting the program back to respectable but he still has a ways to go to make it one of the top programs in the country. If people can't see that then that is on them.

  • Here's something I was pretty amused by: a Sparty on RCMB started a thread about how he'd be rooting for Michigan the first two rounds because he thinks the B1G isn't getting enough love on ESPN for this tournament. The OP has a score of -86 lmfao.

So, a loss before making the sweet 16 = scrap the program?
