Not to troll the Buckeyes, but can you imagine both Trey Burke and Aaron Craft in the same backcourt? And he played for Sullinger's dad. How in the world could they let Burke get away and end up at Michigan instead?

And it looked like he was going to PSU for a while too - he and Frazier would have been insane. But PSU still wouldn't have been very good

I'm nervous too. There's almost nothing good that can come out of this game. And Purdue will be playing at home with no pressure and nothing to lose. I can just see DJ Byrd going off for 30.

Yes. We have also lost our last 4 road games. I'm hoping this team is not looking forward to the IU game... or having a hangover from the MSU victory.

Indiana winning tonight against OSU seals them as the Big Ten champs and makes the rest of the games only matter for tournament seeding. An Indiana loss tonight means tomorrow's Michigan-Purdue game is a huge draw to see if Michigan can stay in contention. Thursday's Wisconsin-MSU game would be a huge "win-or-go-home" game since the winner still has a chance and the loser is out of contention. And then Sunday gives a full slate of nationally relevant games with OSU and Wisconsin both having games at noon to see if they can stay at 5 losses (if Wiscy beats MSU), then the 4:00 "Championship" game (if Michigan can beat Purdue) between Indiana and Michigan to see if it's Indiana or a shared banner, then the 6:00 game with MSU (if they beat Wiscy) going for a possible share of the banner as well.

Sure seems to me like the Big Ten would want those Sunday games to be for a share of the banner, so will we see Indiana not get as many friendly calls tonight at home? I'm not suggesting they'd put in the calls to give it to OSU, but might the Big Ten office say the game should be called evenly, or maybe let the hand-checking and body contact go which would favor Craft and OSU?

    - Indiana's previous 4 home games they shot: 29 (Nebraska), 25 (Michigan), 24 (Purdue), and 42(?! - Iowa) free throws. They shot 13 last night against OSU.

"While it's nearly impossible to quantify a coaching advantage -- the variables are difficult to isolate; controlled environments are rare -- there is one game situation in which a coach has greater control than any other: a play call immediately following a timeout. And Michigan, with Beilein and assistant Jeff Meyer making the calls, is third among BCS schools in points scored out of a timeout."

This can't be. The Sparty's keep telling me Coach B is not a good coach.

This is exactly why i think Michigan comes to play tonight. I am sure they are well aware they have lost 4 in a row on the road and will bring it tonight. I am fully expecting a good performance and a win.

Hmmm, wish this stat was reported as points per post timeout play. Could be Beilein calls a large number of timeouts to set up an offensive set, rather than converting a high percentage of those post timeout plays. I'm hoping its both - high efficiency + high frequency, but I'd feel better putting faith in that statistic if it was presented in that way.

Also, doesn't it say just as much (or more) about Jeff Meyer since he's the one designing and/or calling the plays out of the timeout? I'm very impressed in the quality and depth of Michigan bball's staff. We all hear about how great Bacari is, LaVall Jordan is always spoken of highly, and now Jeff Meyer may be an ace at designing/calling offensive sets. goblue

  • Burke should win the POTY hands down. His stats are way better than Oladipo and he comes up clutch more (see block on Craft, steal on Appling)

I really hope he does win POTY, but I have a feeling he's running 3rd right now behind Oladipo and Otto Porter from Georgetown. A win versus Indiana would do a lot to get him back in the public's eye - and dent Oladipo's candidacy.

If you can have the same numbers as magic johnson and you still can't win the POTY then nobody should get the POTY.

Disagree. Oladipo hurt his chances last night with the loss to OSU (and he didn't play well). And Otto Porter was coming on lately, but I think he was at best 3rd or 4th ... and G-town just lost tonight, which won't help. I really think it will come down to Burke v. Oladipo and this Sunday's game might just be what decides it.

  • After tonight I really don't think this team deserves a BIG championship. I will take one but we are not the best team in the conference.

Winning and being the best don't always go hand-in-hand in college basketball.

  • Michigan plays Indiana at home this Sunday for a share of the B10 title. If we win, it will be only the fourth time in more than 100 years playing basketball we've won back-to-back B10 titles.
