  • HOLADIPO! That dunk was nuts.

  • We should have beaten Ohio by about 7+ points both times.

The difference is that we are younger and less experienced than Indiana.

But given that Indiana is bringing in 6 commits in the 2013 class, I think Crean expects to lose both Oladipo and Zeller after this season.

Stealing Sparty's recruits and owning them on the field since 1898

  • I'll admit it: I thought Sparty's YOU OFF shirts were funny. They'll be especially funny after we run them out of their building.

How long have you followed college basketball?

When was the last time State got run out of the Breslin Center?

  • Just got home from work. Was fortunate enough to not watch. My roomates, along with the gamecast explained all I need to know.

I know Belein brought us out of the dark era but it is starting to become clear he is not the one to lead us to glory. Go Blue

    Awesome reference.

But if I may...I would've said "it will be made glorious spring" since the NCAAT happens in March and extends into April.

  • I've stepped back from the ledge.

The loss tonight was not on Beilein. He tried every lineup combination and defensive strategy available to this team, and msu smacked all of them. This is just one of those losses that happens to teams every now and then...one of those losses where nothing you do works. Does it suck? yes. Am I annoyed by it? Absolutely. But hell, I've been on the other side of these games too. The year before I went to Xavier, they were a middle of the road team all year (the 4th team in their division in conference). They played #1 in the Nation and 27-0 St. Joseph's. Xavier was hitting on all cylinders and St. Joe's was not. Xavier won the game by 20. St. Joe's still went on to be the #1 overall seed and went on the Elite 8 that year before losing close to okie state.

These losses just happen, and luckily in basketball season, you don't have to wait long to move on. We get a little break in the schedule from top tier teams until the rematch with msu in Ann Arbor with 2 against PSU and home against the Illini. Hopefully we can get the ship righted and by then be in a position to control our own destiny.

Obviously exaggerated confidence should have been obvious.

  • Need to find more ways to get GR3 and Stauskas involved in the offense. Early on they were some of the key beneficiaries off of Burke's ball screens. OSU has pretty much given the rest of the league the blueprint on how to slow down Michigan's pick-and-roll/ball screen offense. Without that, the offense is just a lot of Burke/Hardaway one-on-one's, and it isn't nearly as effective... The last few games it's looked like we're playing with 2-3 guys on offense instead of 5.

Exactly. MSU is a legitimate top 10 team and you better bring your A game to the Breslin or suffer the brutal consequences. We didn't last night. But everyone has their off nights. Kentucky was run off the court by UF last night. Arky did it to UF and Miami did it to Duke a week earlier. TCU did it Kansas. We've lost four games on the road to four very, very good teams. And three of the four games were close. So, we got blown out in one. It stings that it was against Sparty, but the important thing is for the team to pick itself up and move on. We can win every remaining game on our schedule. We are a young team and are having an amazing season. Michigan basketball is finally back.

Yeah need to get Stauskas moving around on the court a little bit, just leaving him in the corner. Sure he was getting some open looks when teams weren't paying attention to him early in the season, but the defenses know better now and aren't giving him many easy shots.

Exactly...we're still a top 10 team that took 1 BAD loss. We'll bounce back. No matter what you guys say or think...UM is just as good as anyone in the nation.

Actually, I'd put us slightly behind IU and Duke precisely because of our youth and their veterans, but it's a small gap. And IMO we're as good as anyone else.

  • I'm watching UNC and Duke and I notice a few things..

    (1) The game is reffed differently and probably in a way more beneficial to Michigan.
    (2) Duke is by no means a team without flaws, a deeply flawed UNC probably beats them at Cameron if UNC didn't choke at the FT line
    (3) I still feel Duke would probably beat us, pressuring Burke while on D and giving us a diet of Plumlee scoring in the paint offensively.

  • This Duke/UNC game just reaffirmed how much the quality of basketball has declined in the one-and-done era.

Yes it has. Let them go after high school or make them stay 2-3 years.

Not sure if you care or not, but Devin Booker is visiting UNC and Duke next week.
