Should be a fantastic year for UM basketball. We were recently ranked #5 in the country by the USA Today preseason poll. With Trey Burke and THJ returning, our backcourt looks to be one of the best in the country. I'm anxiously awaiting to see the incoming freshman in action, too. They will be key if we want to win the B1G this year.

The lineup will most likely look like this:

PG: Trey Burke SG: Tim Hardaway Jr SF: Glenn Robinson III PF: Jordan Morgan C: Mitch Mcgary

    6th man: Nik Stauskas/Matt Vogrich

Key bench players: Nik Stauskas, SG Matt Vogrich, SG Jon Horford, C Max Bielfeldt, SF Spike Albrecht, PG

    Am I forgetting anybody?

Do we really think Mitch will start at the 5 from Day 1?

I don't see why not. He is way more talented than Jordan Morgan.

I don't think you should assume that. Experience in the system, especially a unique one like Beilein's, makes a big difference. Also, I'm hearing very good things about Horford. I think it will be a battle between all three of them for playing time this year. If McGary lives up to the hype in his physical abilities, he might emerge as the starter at some point. But it will not surprise me at all if either Morgan or Horford starts at C early in the season.

I am expecting to start 2 bigs and have 2 bigs on the court a majority of the time. That gives you plenty of minutes to share for Horford, McGary and Morgan. I think McGary starts and then either Horford or Morgan.

You'll have a big line-up and a smaller line-up, but I agree two of the three probably will be on the floor a lot. All three should be able to rebound and play solid defense, but it will be interesting to see who emerges as the most effective scoring threat. That hasn't been one of Morgan's strengths in the past. It will also be interesting to see how Hardaway's game has improved in the offseason and whether he finds himself being pushed for playing time by Stauskas. Stauskus sounds like a deadly shooter from distance and also a pretty good ball handler. He might be very hard to keep off the floor.

I think Stauskas is more likely to steel minutes from Vogrich as the first guard off the bench. It will be interesting to see if Stauskas is the one to give Burke a breather or if it ends up being Spike.

He can ball. I don't know how good he's going to be, but I can tell you that he will be our best shooter. couple recruiting analysts has him as one of the best shooters in the country.

Watched a couple more of these videos. The kids handle is insane. Beautiful stroke too I think he's gonna be a great addition who will stick around for four years too.

Yeah but I think he still will miss most of the out of conference games. I was looking foward to seeing what a 3 man rotation of McGary, Morgan and Horford could give Michigan. Have to wonder if this will hurt Horford for the whole year.

It will effect him and the team into January, and it will likely effect him most of the season. Getting the rotation set and going smoothly will be the team part, his game shape and confidence in the knee the rest of the year.

Unless Bielfeldt is ready to go I think this means Robinson is going to see more time at the 4. Been hearing a lot of great things about Levert and Stauskas.

Levert is apparently super quick and can really shoot the ball. His midrange game is going to be a big boost for this team. Reports are that he can really defend too. That would be huge for this team if he can be that perimeter defender Stu was last year.

  • Michigan #5 in preseason AP poll.

Again, I'm really not trying to sound bias, but I really do not understand how OSU is ranked so high. They lost Jared Sullinger and Will Buford, who scored the majority of their points. Thomas is good when he's on, but he's inconsistent. Craft is a lockdown defender, but can't shoot worth crap.

Good news, Horford has a sprained knee and shouldn't be out for more than a game or two (if that).
