ESPN Q&A w/Hoke

  • Done by the Big Ten guys; Hoke's first word is unsurprisingly "Well,"

Spring Q&A: Michigan coach Brady Hoke - Big Ten Blog - ESPN

Michigan begins spring practice on Saturday with both some question marks and some major returning talent. Brady Hoke says of his team: We're very yo

  • I like Norfleet going to RB. Maybe he can provide a good spark as a change of pace at the position.

I agree. I think he could be a nightmare for defenses if they can get him involved in the passing game while mixing in some runs.

He'd be a great 3rd down back replacing Smith if he can block well.

I think it's interesting that he included Pipkins in a group that could play inside or SDE. Seeing Pipkins as a DE would be... odd.

Also, he says we have 3 incoming LBs? Does he include Taco or was that just a slip of the tongue?

  • I'm sure Pipkins would be used as a DE on running downs or something. He's quite athletic for a 300 pounder though and is in the best shape he's ever been. Exciting stuff.

  • Something interesting that Brian at MGoBlog brought up - by rule, the coaches already had to announce where the 2 extra schollies are being found (we're at 87 and can have 85). Hoke mentioned Mike Jones as a LB in that interview which may surprise some, but did not mention Antonio Poole. He also mentioned every DB except for Delonte Hallowell. TIFWIW

I would be surprised to see Hallowell leave the program.

  • any ways to get to 85. But if Hollowell were to leave, everyone would understand. Including Wilcher. Kid is just never going to play on Defense. He was pretty much passed last year by his former teammate. And with the frosh coming in, he MAY (and I stress MAY) see the writing on the wall. We will see come fall camp.

Has there been any discussion lately about the future of our wayward punter?
