Dunn breaks bread with Michigan

    Your errors are numerous.

FIrst, since the MSU game (where he basically did not play), Toussaint had 20, 16, 27, 29, and 20 rushes. Before that game he was hurt. Hoke has said he wants only 1 primary runner. Even with the injuries he averaged 14.5 carries a game. The Western game also ended in the 3rd qtr, the MN game ended by the 1st qtr. I think we can safely assume he would have averaged over 20 if not hurt.

RichRod's problem was not that he recruited the Midwest too much...that is laughable. If anything, he recruited Florida too much for slot receivers.

Tressel's teams, after a decade, NEVER looked like the SEC, and never recruited out of the midwest hugely. Absolutely, he got some premier kids from all over, to his credit. But his vast focus was locking down Ohio, as bucknut fans keep reminding us. As for getting Ohio players...other than the past 4 years, we have ALWAYS gotten a fair number of Ohio players. In fact, the lockdown of the last couple years is the exception over the past half century, not the rule.

Urban runs the spread. Has always run the spread. For that, he will have to shift focus away from Ohio. Now, you can either lock down Ohio, or recruit nationally...very difficult to do both, with as many premier players in Ohio. Tressel focused on Ohio...I doubt Urban does as much.

Just look at the number kids that are on Michigan's roster from Ohio and how many realistically are going to be playing on Sunday! Maybe Toussaint and Kroger. Myer will continue to get the majority of the top athletes in Ohio and some like Thomas will get away but like Tressel his scope of recruiting will also be Florida and specifically getting those top DT's and LB's. Funny Tressel won all those Big Ten titles and NC title and beat Texas, Arkansas, Oregon and had the most BCS wins so I think he has some talent and more than any other Big Ten team. Also, as OSU coach how many great players did he lose to Michigan from Ohio? So are you telling me Dunn would get 20 carries the next two years since Toussaint is only a sophomore?

    This post is hilarious.

Greg Mattison was the DC for the 2006 BCS MNC UF team and helped build the 2008 BCS MNC UF team before leaving for the NFL. Mattison, along with Borges, knows what a SEC team looks like on both offense and defense.

Mattison has every intention of building a SEC-like defense. What remains to be seen is if he wants to build a Alabama-like defense or a LSU-like defense.

And as I understand it, Borges is interested in implementing a Stanford-like offense...essentially a GCO with 2 TE sets mixed in.

You have to have the athletes to compete with the SEC and Stanford never even competes against Oregon! I love Michigan's coaches but can they get athletes two deep to compete against the top programs. It will take at least three recruiting class.

Lol yeh I do. A bunch of lies and bullshit, then Meyer bail for "health issues" once Hoke hans his ass to him. Michigan beat Meyer with Tebow, I think we will be just fine.

With a experienced coach maybe one lose this year with a mediocre team in a mediocre Big Ten. Fickell is a good guy but was not ready for prime time. Osu's whole LB core was hurt the Michigan game and in a normal year would have blowout. You can be delusional about the potential of Braxton Miller and Urban Myers but in you heart you know they will make magic if he can get a few more play makers and speed at DE and LB.

Who cares man, all depends on what happens on the field. You never know what can happen. We can speculate all day. Buckeye assumption of greatness is one thing, but to say IT WILL be greatness is stupid. You have no idea how things will play out next year. None. Wait till the games are played.

Except when has Stanford recruiting ever been that good? It was amazing what Harbaugh and Luck did with that team. I expect a full on regression to middling Pac12 team next year. Similar offensive style. Different level of talent.

Just about the lamest argument I have heard from Michigan fans. That worked well for us when we hired Cooper didn't it? Because he beat you when he was ASU in the Rose Bowl, shouldn't be a problem when he comes to OSU. We all know how that turned out. Success against someone ONE time doesn't automatically mean consistent success. You also look past the depleted defense they had that year and were still able to hang like what 35 points on you?

Again man, you can be the greatest team in football, turn over the football and lose games. We have no idea how good OSU and MI will be next year. Stupid to assume the buckeyes will be that much better and or the wolverines being that much better. What if Urban's scheme for some reason or another doesn't translate. Maybe it will, maybe it will produce NC's multiple years. Who knows? Stupid for either fanbase to say they will win the game next year. Or to say that this guy was injured thus being the reason this team or that team won. We could do that every year, for almost 90% of the games won or lost.

Yes, even those that evaluated Michigan would say as much. Without Denard this year you are 6-6.

Your 'Michigan Man' [the Hoax, from Ohio] who relies so heavily on players from the dreaded 'Ohio', has enjoyed a one-year recruiting aberration in the state. That year is nearly over. The fence goes back up. He will never again get a class ranked in the top 10 by signing Ohio recruits. TOSU, of course, will.

You are toast and you know it -- whether you get Dunn or not. That's why you huff and puff so hard on Buckeye sites. You're checking out Urban Meyer's recruiting every 10 minutes because he doesn't scare you, right? Keep whistling, Weasels, as Urban walks you past the graveryard.

    What's a graveryard?

BTW, did your significant other give you your username?

Never get a class ranked in the top ten with players from Ohio because of that 'fence' you say? Well hell .. then I'm even HAPPIER about Dymonte Thomas .. cause his vertical must be a hell of a lot higher than the one listed on his 24/7 profile. He's managed to jump right over that 'fence-o-meyer'

You mean without Denard, Borges can run the offense that he specializes in and we'd be even more deadly. You give Al a mobile quarterback that can make all the throws and we'll be pretty damn good.

Good get for Michigan but I wonder if things would have been different if Urban was the coach earlier? He will the exception next year not the rule! Still questioning his attitude also. Walk softly when you carry a big stick! Talking trash to OSU when you have not even suited up to me is not good.

Hence, Mattison wants players that are both fast and strong. He wants to have a SEC-like defense but better. He was the same guy that essentially built our all-world 97 defense. In other words, the man knows what he's doing.

    -----

Oregon is a unique team that came down to bad match-ups for Stanford. On the other hand, Stanford managed to compete with USC - a loaded pro-style team particularly on offense.

And did you forget that Ohio State was able to beat Oregon a few years back? Oregon was faster than Ohio State but could Oregon could not match Ohio State's bulk/strenghth.

This is actually a sad fact for the state of Ohio.

The idea that your own state produces players/coaches that reject your glorified state school is amusing for us. We relish that fact.

You are also aware that Greg M was the DC at Florida when LLoyd beat them with RR influence incorporating some of the spread for that game during practice right?

    @FrankC

    Sure.

Part of the reason we blew the doors off of Florida (which isn't reflected in the final score) is that we ran a different system than the one UF/Meyer/Mattison+Strong prepared for.

We ran the Oklahoma spread passing (thanks to Brady's contributions to Scott Shafer) instead of our tradition pro-style.

Hence, UF's defense was confused when we went 5 wide and didn't really have an answer for it.

How many recruits do you think Urban can sign every year? We keep hearing Urban is going to lock down Ohio but then we hear he is going to pull in kids from all over the nation. So which one is it? With all the talent coming out of Ohio doesn't seem possible to be able to lock up all the top notch Ohio recruits and pull in kids from all over the nation without oversigning which is not allowed in the Big Ten.
