Drake Harris decommits from Michigan State

  • Saintlex said...

Honestly .. call me crazy/stupid or whatever .. but I just dont see him ending up a Buckeye. I'm assuming he decided to ditch basketball because he felt his true calling was football. I'm pretty sure becoming a pro is pretty high on his list of future accomplishments also .. so why go become a Buckeye and be used as a full time blocker, instead of having his talent showcased week in and week out .. all the while competing for a National Championship for as many years as he'll be here?

I'm more worried about Bama and USC to be honest.

I totally agree with this. People are overestimating his interest in OSU and underestimating the threat posed by Bama and USC. Saban knows (and recruits) Michigan well. And both Bama and USC run pro style offenses and have put elite WRs into the NFL in recent years. They are going to make a strong run at Drake Harris, much stronger than OSU.

Video of his decommit. that stated some of you are funny, have you not seen our own troll fans bash kids for a non-pick or decommit?

Thanks for the video. I'm not sure funny is the right word for it.

  • This thread is as predictably smug as the very low grade meltdown on tRCMB. You are who we thought you were.

Spartans are unhappy that they lost a top recruit? Yep, just like you would be.

A tiny percent are responding like 8th graders? Just like UM fans.

These message boards - with the lack of maturity and humility that is fostered by anonymity - are probably the worst thing that has happened to our rivalry.

I'm a Spartan with lots of UM friends and we all manage to treat each other like human beings before during and after games
regardless of the results. I know recruiting matters, but most reasonable adults just don't give a s#@t, considering the fickle nature of the teenager and the crapshoot of deciding a player's worth before he ever faces real D1 athletes. Michigan won the recruiting war every year of the Spartans 4-0 streak. ND had a top ten class annually with Charlie Wiess's inept tenure there.

Still, I think it's apparent that Harris is going to be really good. Good luck to him and his family.

It was just a mistake; I didn't mean to let them take away my soul. Am I too old? Is it too late?

"Michigan won the recruiting war every year of the Spartans 4-0 streak." And here is where you diverge into the "8th graders" mentality. As you are aware, it takes players AND coaches to make it work. In fact, great coaches can take average players and win (see 49ers). MSU won because it had a better coach that got the most out of its players. We have fixed that problem.

  • From the now-locked thread following their interview with Harris:

We don't need buckeye fans coming to the MSU board to "conversate" with us about our recruiting efforts or to talk about our program. Stay the hell in Ohio and go live in your trailer. Go to a Wolverine board since both of your programs are in bed with each other.

I've not heard this particular brand of delusion before...do I just need to spend more time on tRCMB, or has this particular Sparty just taken his meds this morning?

  • My main question is why are MSU football fans so upset when it was clear his reason for committing to MSU in the first place was to play basketball, football was second. Football was like the ugly best friend who gets invite to the party only because her friend is hot. MSU football fans can't be that mad, he wasn't that into you in the first place. His relationship was with izzo. When he attended the bball games at UM or MSU his comments regarding MSU mainly focused on izzo. The venom from their football fan base just speaks of delusion, at least when our fans throw tantrums (like with treadwell) it was based on the kid actually liking the school for football. Harris wanted the hot girl at the party being bball, now that Harris won't acknowledge football in the hallway don't act like you was prom queen--you was just a tagalong, the skin of an apple.

You forgot to mention we also won the recruiting war the other 36 years out of the past 40 and have dominated the rivalry because of it. Don't make the mistake of treating the four years following Lloyd Carr's retirement as the rule. It was the exception. Recruiting matters. It has always mattered and it will always matter. Believing otherwise is fool's gold.

It basically means, from MSU eyes, OSU and UM respect each other's programs and want the Game to be when both teams are 11-0.

MSU fans want UM to lose every game by 100.

No one cares what MSU fans want. MSU is irrelevant when it comes to football. It is filler. The sooner you accept that, the sooner you will stop having meltdowns every time an elite prospect rejects you saying he would rather play for a big boy football program.

Shouldn't Mich at least win its division in football before you brag about it? That's what makes this board entertaining to me...the mutual longing of both Mich and OSU for the 'good ol days' of the 1970s when Bo and Woody spent all year preparing for one game...

    Not like Sparty.

I'll be the first one to admit I was hard on Dawson, but it wasn't because of the de-commit. It was because of the lying, and the oetty smack talk about UM after the coaches cut ties.

Once he owned up to the mistake and talked to the coaches, I was all for him coming back on board.

We had a small number of people bag on Conley when he de-committed, but we can't touch RCMB when it comes to acting like a jilted ex. They are the queens of that practice.

Why? We've been playing football for more than 130 years and have only been in a division for two of them. A big boy program like Michigan doesn't measure its success by counting division titles.

    MrWoodson

  • I mean, in fairness, there were UM fans on twitter telling Dawson they hoped he broke his leg/tore his ACL/every other horrible thing.

No. The OSU and UM battle is back on. MSU is mad because they 'will' be relegated to the back of the line. The OSU and UM battle started when Bo beat OSU, and it never looked back. You have two dynamic coaches and recruiters that are currently battling on everything right now.

lol The divisions have only been around for 2 years. How many Big Ten titles does Michigan have? Exactly. That is why Michigan is considered a top tier program.
