Drake Harris decommits from Michigan State

It basically means, from MSU eyes, OSU and UM respect each other's programs and want the Game to be when both teams are 11-0.

MSU fans want UM to lose every game by 100.

You may as well leave this site. Nothing you say matters. You call Michigan fans arrogant. Do nothing but bash us. Call Wiltfong pathetic for just reporting the news.

This thread is as predictably smug as the very low grade meltdown on tRCMB. You are who we thought you were.

Spartans are unhappy that they lost a top recruit? Yep, just like you would be.

A tiny percent are responding like 8th graders? Just like UM fans.

These message boards - with the lack of maturity and humility that is fostered by anonymity - are probably the worst thing that has happened to our rivalry.

I'm a Spartan with lots of UM friends and we all manage to treat each other like human beings before during and after games regardless of the results. I know recruiting matters, but most reasonable adults just don't give a s#@t, considering the fickle nature of the teenager and the crapshoot of deciding a player's worth before he ever faces real D1 athletes. Michigan won the recruiting war every year of the Spartans 4-0 streak. ND had a top ten class annually with Charlie Wiess's inept tenure there.

Still, I think it's apparent that Harris is going to be really good. Good luck to him and his family.

    I sniff my own farts.

  • Really Skip?

"He had all that interest from those "big" schools prior to his commitment to us. Those coaches were constantly telling him he was too good to end up at MSU, which is garbage. The only difference is when he decided to focus on footba he started listening to those idiots. If he's truly focused on a NC then he's headed out of conference. If anyone has seen Bama play, and I know you have, no one in this conference is anywhere near ready to take on their best. UM? Not even close. tOSU? No shot at this point."

MSU isn't a very good football program.. takes year of consistent winning to get to that level. - copemoney 1/22/13

Shouldn't Mich at least win its division in football before you brag about it? That's what makes this board entertaining to me...the mutual longing of both Mich and OSU for the 'good ol days' of the 1970s when Bo and Woody spent all year preparing for one game...

42 Big Ten championships to your 7, and the University of Chicago has the same amount of Big Ten championships as you, and they dropped football from their program in 1939. Sparty gonna Spart!!

People dont understand that you dont have to be better then Bama to win the national championship. All they need to do is lose 1 or 2 games in the gauntlet of the SEC, while you have a better season in your easier conference and hopefully you get a favorable team you matchup with when you play for the crystal football. So much luck and chance throughout the entire football season are necessary to win the natty.

  • Also, Bama is not head and shoulders better than everyone.

People talk about Bama like its 2001 Miami or 1995 Nebraska. It isn't.

LSU, TAMU, and UGA all had rosters capable of beating Bama.

Michigan can get there. So can Ohio.

MSU fans are facing a stark reality .... irrelevancy in the B10 again. Yes, they will preach 'Michigan needs to win something first', or 'We beat you 4 of the last 5 times'. MSU fans fail to see how the environment and entities operating within have shifted. The shift is recognized by OSU and ND, as they have both stepped up their aggressiveness with recruiting, University image, football play, etc. UM will reach this level again quickly. Denial from the MSU fan base is dangerous at this time.

    Skip doesn't see it either.

They will just go back to not caring anymore and only follow basketball.

But it will be a fun game every year, and tbey will give us a tough time anf win occassionally, but the fact that kids view tnem as a second or third tier school will ultimately hinder any chances at stepping up into the spotlight. The fans are bitter and tbey should be, they had a window and did a lot with it, but lerception nationally and even locally never changed . The hardest part for tbem is realizing the window is almost gone now. Urban and home are sucking up the attention and the recruits. If michigan has a dominating win in el this, I'm assuming we may see white flags raised.

Although hoke does have some proving to do. This yeat we can't screw around either. We have a schedule set up to win, and we have to come ojt with 2 losses or less. The kids coming in should start providing us with everything we need to compete nationally next year, bjt there is no mlre next year. If we flop this year and have a bad season, then we must realize all ojr pieces may not be in place.....me have to have a big year to catapult us into our future.

That won't be true in a few years when we have the "playoff" in place. Bama can still lose in conference and be considered one of the top 4 schools to play in the playoff. Plus, no school wants to be the champion because their conference had the easier slate so though in theory what you say has validity, that can't the the mentality of wanting to be the champ based on other teams beating each other in a stronger conference.
