You're right, he does look pretty green, but I'm sure the great coaches at the University of Michigan will make him a terrific player in basketball and football.

Are Sam the Eagle and Little Napoleon giving him the same football/basketball pitch that they gave to Fred Smith and Dion Sims?

Izzo has him already. The ace in the hole.

Sure he does, any proof to back it up? Maybe an article, stating MSU leads?

  • I am simply trying to explain the MSU fans' optimism regarding Harris.

I remember an article about a month ago that said he loves Izzo b/c of how enthusiastic he is. Then, when asked what he's looking for in a program, he said he's looking for good coaches. "I love a great coach that can be enthusiastic and get in my face and make me better. A coach that can toughen you up when you get down and not let anyone slide you by with anything. That's all a big part."

At a later point in time, he said the following about Tom Izzo:
"I would love to play for Izzo. He is always in your face making you a better player. He’s the type of coach that's enthusiastic and going to get the job done. Izzo’s a winner. Simple as that."

Seems like Izzo aligns to him pretty perfectly.

Izzo very rarely misses on a recruit when he really focuses on them. I imagine that Harris will be a priority for Izzo b/c of his potential in bball as well as Izzo caring so much about the football team. I would be surprised to see Harris go anywhere but MSU.

That having been said, Hoke isn't exactly what I would call a poor recruiter. This could line up as an epic clash of the recruiting titans, pitting Hoke against Izzo. Will be extremely interesting to see how it goes!!

  • I would have to think MSU is in the driver's seat. Seems pretty obvious that he his a basketball prospect first - and that fits better at MSU than Michigan. I think his decision will be purely basketball based - football seems to be the clear second fiddle.

At least you brought up an article and tried to add something insightful, the other Spartan fan didn't do that. +1 Hopefully he goes Blue but I really don't know anything about his recruitment other than he's a beast.

  • Not a knock on the kid, because I'm sure he's a good prospect n all, but I don't even want a recruit unless he's willing to focus on one sport. Unless its a player like Deon or Bo type, then two sport stars seem to become nothing more than a role player. Jack of many trades, master of none.

I'm not a big fan of that either, but a lot of kids will play two sports freshman year, and then drop one once they realize they can't maximize their potential in both. If that happens, he'd still have 3-4 years to focus on just one sport. And it's still possible that he'll choose one before he even gets to college.

  • Honestly I feel like it's if he picks basketball, he's going to MSU and if he picks football, he's going to UM. If he doesn't pick until college, then it's probably MSU.

Totally reasonable to be optimistic, and you give a great explanation. There's a world of difference between this kind of post and "GREEN." I actually really like when other teams' fans come and share their info and how their fan base views a certain recruit. Sounds like your optimism is justified. He seems like a basketball first recruit who has been a fan of MSU's b-ball program and Izzo. We'll see, but I doubt he ends up playing football.

You're right, we do. You certainly don't. The only silent commitments MSU gets are the ones too ashamed to go public so they keep quiet, holding out hope for a better offer.

We do know how that goes. Sean Parker and Wayne Morgan are the two silent commits for Michigan that come to my mind. They didn't really like Michigan enough to come out publicly with the commit, then got swayed later and ended up going elsewhere.

  • Is this kid better at Football or Basketball? If he does intend to play both sports, it seems like it would be easier for him to be a Football player who also plays Basketball.

Very good at both. Basketball is probably his better sport, but he's a 6'4 WR with some bounce and ball skills. Just questionable if he has the top end speed.
