Devin's Red-shirt is BIG

  • If Bellomy develops to the point that we are not forced to use Shane next season, this could be one of the biggest breaks in UM football in the past 5 seasons. DG's numbers, minus the rushing yardage were Denard like in the season's last 5 games and his almost 60% completion percentage includes some very long passes, including a scrambling 50+ something to Dileo and, of course, the equally long one to Roundtree that set up the winning fg.

This kid's scrambling ability makes his every bit as dangerous as Miller, and he has proven he can use his legs to get to the chains when needed. Borges has already had time to work with the kid in the system he likes and getting that extra year will make him a bonafide AA caliber qb going into his senior year. Let's not forget that Shane needs an extra year far more than he normally would have inasmuch as he basically lost a year last year due to his illness.

It is my belief that the caliber of both incoming RBs increases the likelihood that at least one will become a legitimate first team BIG by their second season, so the line, RB and DG should progress to the point that by time the 2014 season rolls around, we should be fielding one of the most dangerous offenses in the nation.

The reality of his gaining another year's eligibility is as significantly tremendous to UM fans as it is disappointing to all our BIG foes for 2014.

  • Yea we all know Bellomy sucked it up last year when he was called upon, but let's not give up on him. He had a horrible game against Nebraska, but I'm sure that is something that he has took to heart and has worked hard to correct. On top of that, seeing that Gardner could be around for another year, it is essential that Morris redshirt this year. Morris is the future of Michigan football and we need to preserve his eligabilty as much as possible

  • No, no, no. We don't give up on any of our kids that have decided to make AA home. Afterall, most have been courted by countless others prior to making UM their choice of a mate for the next 4-5 years. That was an extremely difficult game for him to get his first chance last season, and that was as much the coaches fault as anyone else's. Let's face it, anyone who has coached beyond pee-wee football knows, even if you are playing him at another position, you let your most likely to succeed get the next to most snaps in practice.

I am not laying anything on Russell for that reason. The coaching, on the offense, seemed to be clueless as to a backup plan, and then when it was obvious who was going to pull the trigger, they seemed equally clueless in how to move the ball in very, very critical situations where the game could have easily been decided in our favor if they had presented themselves as having pre-planned any call other than first down. It was almost like, ¨OK, we´ll get a first down on this,¨ then for some inexplicable reasoning they were incapable of thinking of what they should do if that weren´t the case. I believe, just like opposing DCs and players, they were as intimidated by the mere presence of having DR in the backfield as anything other than a qb and had no clue how to run an offensive game plan around him.

We. as Michigan fans always stand behind our recruits, and so we do with RB. However, and this is my only contention, that having DG around for another year is going to make us deeper, obviously, and it is basically up to Bellomy to prove he belongs as our no. 2. It is not that difficult. His confidence may be a bit off center, but just like Devin did when he threw TD passes beyond the los and things of that nature, he simply needs to regroup and remember why the coaches thought he was UM tough.

This post was meant to reflect nothing but good fortune on UM's football team and was not meant to demean any player in any shape, way or form. I simply don't believe in doing so to a member of our squad. They committed to us; likewise we should be equally committed to them.
