Derrick Green: They (UM) are very high on my list

  • Maize N Blue said...

Dude, give it up! Auburn has a reputation of PAYING PLAYERS. THIS IS FACT. So you can have whatever opinion you wish. Your argument HOLDS NO WATER. My God, quit trying to make your opinion relevant over what Auburn and other SEC schools have consistently been party of. Sheesh!

I forget who it is, but a Michigan Grad living in GA saw the very payment made to his friends son after he committed to this certain SEC school where he is now enrolled and heading back for his sophomore year.

Excellent rebuttal there. Lets see, saying something that I have agreed with multiple times. Just saying my argument holds no water without giving any reasoning as to why that is. AND another anecdotal story.

You should go into law... you really get this point counterpoint thing...

I can understand a SEC troll bitching, but damned this guy is nuts. Sheesh, with USC and the SEC just follow the money and you will find out what is the deciding factor, period, fact, just the way it is!

    cheers

You're right. Anytime any player ever names an SEC school their leader or USC their leader it's obvious the only reason they are doing so is simply because they are getting money. There simply is no other possible explanation as to why they would do so.

    .... and I'M the guy that's nuts...

  • theyellowdart making lots of good posts itt. Every time one of our targets talks about/visits/names as his leader Clemson or an SEC school, it seems like there's always people saying "oh, well, obv he got paid" (yik sometimes people are joking) and it's every bit as lame as Bucknuts who insist that Urban pulled a prospect's offer or had an uncommitable offer or whatever other bs they spew when something doesn't go their way. Believe it or not, the University of Michigan is not a panacea...there are plenty of other schools with as much or more to offer a recruit, particularly if said recruit doesn't care too much about academics or dislikes the Midwestern climate. I'm sure from time to time recruits will get money under the table (personally, I think they should all be paid above the table), but to pretend like that's the only reason anyone would ever pick another school over Michigan is ridiculous.

Anyhow, Green is in town for three days! Let's make the most of it and reel in #24!

Sure there are other reasons for what ever. But do not insinuate that those rogue programs that pay players on a regular basis are just some saying may have occurred?

A U-M Grad SAW THE PAYMENT! My wife's uncle KNEW OF PAYMENTS MADE, and my Bama friend said HE KNEW PAYMENTS MADE.

I did not say Greene had money in his hands. I said to see Auburn's recruiting success FOLLOW THE MONEY. BTW Terry Bowden tried to stop the PAY TO PLAY which at Auburn is a tradition and happens constantly.

Insinuate what you will, but your head is in the sand. Sheesh, some people have lost all ability to reason!

No, you're losing reason right now. Most of us know that pay to play happens. Especially at Auburn. Nobody has said otherwise, they are just saying that it's pathetic to blame money when a recruit picks a school over Michigan.

I really just have no idea what this sentence is supposed to mean.

I don't care if I personally saw Auburn paying players, that's not sufficient evidence to say "Oh, Derrick Green got money/was promised from AU, that's why he said nice things about them."

Some were speculating he might commit this weekend. I think this becomes an after football season to NSD decision for Green. LT may drag this out as well.

I am still speculating that Green might commit this weekend. I do not for one minute believe that Treadwell will take an official visit to another school. I believe he will be committed to Michigan before that can happen.

I'm giving it a 30-40% chance Green commits this weekend. 3 nights in town, big event with half our class, long chat with Hoke, with both parents, the list goes on and on. If he does not commit this weekend or come away saying overwhelmingly convincing things about our chances in the future, I will put it at a 2% chance he eventually joins the class

I believe they are taking 2 this year and have Wilkins committed already. An Auburn poster on tBB said they are close to flipping a back from another school(Greg Bryant from Oklahoma i think) and if they do they would be done at RB.

I agree. If monday rolls around, and we do not see any verbal indications from him on where Michigan stands (top 2), then he is not coming to Michigan. We should quickly target Mathis and McQuay for consideration. At that point, I would make Mathis #2 behind LT. I would also reach out to Muhammad, and get an OV lined up for Sept./Oct.

If the shoe fits. . . . Time and time and time again SEC schools are in trouble for improper benefits. Just recently a former Alabama player was admitting to this; that they Alabama don't have boosters willing to pony up as much money as the Auburn boosters. . . . If you want to keep people from accusing you of doing something STOP DOING IT.

Also, when football players past and present are involved in a triple murder with a fugitive, then a recruits MOM says WOW this place gives me that feeling, tends to raise some eyebrows.

Blue, if that is the case and they are offering him money as you say then why is he visiting Michigan? Is he hoping that they will offer him more money? I am confused with your argument

Alabama and Auburn and several other SEC schools have a reputation for improper benefits. So when recruits have a good/great time on campus, or start transferring high schools to play with the coaches sons, speculation becomes more of a possibility.

I didn't say they gave him money. I am saying it's a definite possibility.

So people should start judging schools over freak accidents (the muders)?

You seriously don't think that kinda thing happens there all the time do you?

And I am sure during his trip, the coaches and such didn't even bring him anywhere close to the murder scene, it would be stupid of them. So yes, it is definitely reasonable that the mom is still impressed with the school.

Claiming that a recruit only picked another school over us because of money is a cowardly excuse. If the recruit in question is the kind to accept money, it would only be reasonable to assume that we are offering money to them as well since we are in the top group. If all the kid wants is money, then why would he consider us if we are so "clean"?
