Derrick Green Committing??

  • I am a Bama fan....I come in peace!

I just read on the AuBarn board that Derrick Green had planned to make his announcement this weekend, but his high school coach talked him into postponing for two weeks? Have any of you heard this?? (There i$ a rea$on that they are getting $o many great recruit$) Supposedly, he is calling the AuBarn coaches to give them a timeline.

It is very suspicious that such a mediocre team would get so many four and five stars. A recruit visits and they (Trooper in particular) put the pressure on him to commit quickly. Hope you land Green. It would be a waste for him to land up at the cow college. Be aware of the situation...

Also, for myself and many other Alabama fans, we feel honored to play Michigan! Your program is steeped in football history and is one of The Elite programs around! For those of you traveling to the game- Have a Safe Journey, and it will be HOT and HUMID in Dallas.

I do not belong to the Michigan site, so if you want to respond to my post, make sure you do not check "for members only." Good luck this year!

Michigan fans are just as suspect about the situation as you are. We don't particularly understand the love for Auburn either. Anyways, here's to a great game in Dallas. I'm sure most of us are appreciative of the opportunity to play a program like Bama. goblue

This is completely false. He is going on with his official visits this fall. Not committing at all to Auburn this weekend.

Lot of smoke & speculation out there regarding DG. The one that kills me is Reuben Foster. Committed to Bama since his sophomore year. Then takes a trip to Opelika & all of a sudden rolls with them WTH ?. Mucho dinero floating out there.

Derrick Green Setting Up Official Visits, Denies Rumors About Committing Soon | Bleacher Report

According to a report from Rivals.com (behind a pay wall), rumors began to circulate over the weekend that 5-star running back Derrick Green (Richmond, Va.) was ready to verbally commit to one of his final six schools by the end of the week...

They have such a different approach with their program than Alabama or other programs. The recruits visit (the Barn prefers without the parents the first time) and they are shown "a very good time," if you get my drift. There is a very laid back, casual atmosphere there. They refer to it as, "family." Believe me, that is not what most of us refer to as family... and then they are told, "We will take care of your family." That i$ when the I-phones, ca$h, etc...begin to flow. (Some of these recruits have put pics on their face book with their ca$h)

Reuban Foster's Mom now has a job on Saturdays at the AuBarn stadium. She takes up tickets at the entrance where the Boo$ter$ enter!!!! Reuban was quoted as saying, "I have to take care of my family."

There are so many stories I could tell you....when there is that much smoke, there is a fire somewhere in cow town. The worse part is.... when they start saying "It s a God thing." Blasphemy in it's truest form.

Another interesting thing to watch: Another commit for next year is Dee Liner. (Highly ranked) He is very good friends with Rueban. (They said the entire time they were going to play together.) Well, Dee was a very busy and bad boy over the sumer!! He was arrested twice!!! He is no longer on his high school team as of now. He had a fight with the trainer...the coach intervened...and things were out of control at that point. (Dee's colorful language to the coaches, "F this and F that.") Dee ended up simply walking off....For now he is suspended from the team. It will be a miracle if he makes it to any college next year! (He also is trying to flip Trey Matthews from Georgia.)

Last year the Barn had five players arrested for armed robbery! There is never a dull moment on the plains! Absolutely no discipline!!!

If you are speaking of Jordan Diamond, word is that he has injured his shoulder and will be out for the season. (He will be redshirted)

  • This "money trail" thing really needs to stop. There are some programs that deserve the scrutiny more than others, OSU and Auburn included due to recent accusations, but everyone is way too liberal with the dollar $ign. Some were investigated and found guilty while some were investigated and found innocent.

Leave it alone, otherwise we all sound like a bunch of jealous fans desperate to throw an excuse at anything. The Derrick Green recruitment is no exception.

On the actual recruitment of Derrick Green - don't go jumping to any wild conclusions based on rumors or parents getting "that feeling". The only feeling that matters is Derrick's, and he knows running behind Auburn bigs means dealing with Alabama bigs for the the rest of his career. This isn't a wise choice.

Hey, Trojan guy here. But I went to grad school at UM Ann Arbor and have much love for the wolverines too, so I troll this board all the time. I really really hope UM gets Green as well.

But reading ur post, it sounds like you are accusing Auburn of possibly hooking up recruits with benefits, and thus many 4 5* are committing. I don't know auburn well, but they won a championship lately so maybe recruits are attracted to them. I guess I am playing 'advocate' here bc I read things accusing USC of hooking recruits up with stuff and that's why we get 4 5*s to committ. We don't do that, sometimes I think it's just haters hating on SC. fUCLA bastards are good for that. I'm just saying, green and other highly touted kids may genuinely have an interest In Auburn, they have good facilities, won recently, and could prolly see the field sooner than at Bama.
Again, I don't follow auburn, but just to suggest a school must be up to something bc they get good kids to come...just sayin'.

How is it that I'm not getting it? That is why I find humor in it, Bama complaining about another school paying to get a player is funny, I believe they are mad because Auburn is paying more.
One question, if green goes to Michigan does that mean they paid more? Since it has been stated in here that Auburn is offering green money?

Yea, but if this tidbit from Bama fan above is true and you learned how to play connect the dots as a kid, and 1+1 = 2, then you were a smart kid growing up:

    SORRY THIS IS SO LONG.....

I have grown up in the South watching SEC football. As a fan, you hear a lot....and I don't mean from the Bama fan base. Example: My vet is a UGA graduate, (even been on call for Uga their mascot) I have a relative who is "connected" at the Barn, my daughter went to TN. The list could go on and on. The point is, you get a different prospective about each school from someone who has been around that particular program. FACT: Any school, no matter which conference can not control their boo$ter$. With that being said, not every SEC "cheats" on the same level. Some coaches turn the other way, while others truly want to run a clean program.

    For example:

No matter what others may do at UGA, Mark Reicht tries his best to run a clean program. No one talks badly about him. He is not a hard core disciplinarian, but a sincerely good person.

If someone on his staff was out-of- line, Steve Spurrier would probably throw his visor at them. He has child-lke temper issues, but he does not condone cheating. Just loves football.

You may dislike Saban, but he has turned our program around. He has done this by trying NOT to recruit thugs, and having strict discipline and accountability. As much as we all wanted to see Chris Carter finally play, he never could get himself together, so to speak. Saban came in after coach Mike Shula. (Yes, Don Shula's son) Shula was a great person, and loved Alabama. (He was once our quarterback) But bless his heart, he just wasn't head coaching material. He was brought in after the Francione/Mike Price fiasco. Those were dark days in T.Town. Francione had literally quit by leaving town in the middle of the night. Mike Price was brought in and fired a few months later, after being caught in a strip club in Pensacola! Shula was brought in to give the program some dignity, and hopefully, be able to coach. Alabama has had it's share of trying times. We have been on probation many times. Saban does not condone cheating.

At AuBarn, Pat Dye is still around and does control much of what goes on over there. (Behind the scenes) Does anyone believe Chiz was brought in for his brilliant coaching record, or as someone who could be controlled?? There is a sad phrase used concerning the recruiting at Aubarn: "Paid, laid and saved." It's not simply about the $$$$. This is a fact: There are the Tigerettes who escort the recruits around town and campus. They are paid. (Records for their income are available and have been posted before) You can imagine what the young girls look like. One of the more famous photos is the Tigerettes dressed as playboy bunnies with then recruit, Reese Dismukes. (Yes, Aubarn's center- the one arrested on Fri night) It is worth a google to see. He is past drunk in the pic. But this is his recruiting visit.

As I said, my daughter went to UT. (While Manning was there) It was the best of football days. However, Coach Filmore (SP?) was known to do anything necessary to win, and was famous for "hitting" on the college girls.

My point, all the schools have stories. There are some who do blatantly cheat, others try their best to have an ethical program. (and it does vary somewhat, according to the head coach)
A school can never change the $100 hand-shakes, but can still try and run a clean program.

Regarding MASON01's quote/question above..... Aubarn IS paying more. Bama is not paying anything right now. Our pockets are much deeper, so that is not the reason. At Aubarn every recruit/commit is not paid. The staff at AuBarn knows what they are doing and who will feel "they are being taken care of," rather than "bought." There are many recruits that would not be interested. (Green perhaps being one of them) Something else to remember, the recruit's parents sometimes need to be taken care of.

One other interesting story. The day after Reuban Foster flipped, he got an enormous tattoo. This was an expensive tattoo. (over $500) His Mother was interviewed within days of this, and stated that the entire family was getting AU tattoos. They were reported to have financial troubles....so, how could RF get an expensive tat (posted on his I-Phone) with the family ready to follow suit? Makes you wonder.....

As I siad, Bama fans are excited to play Michigan. (great football dynasty!) Those of you traveling, be careful and remember to dress for the heat. Good luck this season. (after Saturday!!)
