Where you from? I have worked all over Kentucky, Georgia, and South Carolina. The deer weren't to bad, smaller, but not tiny.
I own a house in South Texas, now those deer are like a large dog. Pitiful to see. The rack looks nice from a distance because the deer is so small.

This is looking north from my driveway this morning. To the east is a creek that runs north and south with a deer stand on it. The half-rack was killed out of last night, and 30 does were seen from it opening morning. You can take a doe almost every morning and night as they go back and forth through there.

Indeed. Plus you have kids that get to enjoy that, which is the best part, imo. I feel sorry for these people who haven't experienced that kind of living. They don't know what they're missing.
For sure. I grew up there playing outside day after day. I killed Russian invaders by the scores. I stopped the whole invasion myself countless times.

I wanted to shoot my daughters dog last night. A doe was headed my way last when her dog came trotting down the lane. Second night in a row that she let him out and didn't watch him and he ends up under my tree stand. On top of that, my other daughter thought that 5:20 was a good time to jump on the gator and take the trash down to the end of the drive and then take the scenic route back to the house. I love my daughters, but there are times that I don't like them.
Holy smokes! How do they not know these things, living out in farm country? Keep the dogs and the equipment locked up until hunting is over.
My wife keeps telling me I should take our lab deer hunting with me. She doesn't get it. Women.

The 15 year old (she took the scenic route on the gator) is a work in progress. She doesn't think of the consequences before she acts.
The 17 has a good head on her shoulders. She forgot the first night, and one of the little ones let the dog out the second night.
Daddy had a family meeting to discuss this. I doubt it helped.
