David Dawson on Damon Webb

  • Well, Dawson has PLENTY of time to do so. Early commits are always scary

Yeah, he's got the rest of this school year and summer in the same place, and then all of next year when he can tell Damon how awesome Michigan is and whatever else he comes up with. That one will be a battle.

  • I think the biggest chance to flip might be the development of Gordon, Richardson, and possibly Lewis and Hill.

  • I don't see him flipping, why would he. Ohio St bringing in a helleva class this yr and probably next yr if they can get Harris or McDowell if not both. To many dbs from Cass they will be competing against one another.

He's going to be on the field w/ Michigan commits, and coached by Michigan fans. ohio brought in a fantastic DB class this year, and while Michigan has some good ones I see the chance at playing time much more earlier at Michigan. He's got the talent to go pro in 3 years, so why would he risk being stuck behind Apple & Conley?

Odds are he sticks w/ ohio, but I think Michigan will keep on him and it's not unthinkable that he'd flip.

  • Conley doesn't even want to play Db for one and will play Wr, Burrows is probably a safety at best and Webb is probably just as good as Apple is now. He could also play 3 yrs at OSU to. And to top of off in my opinion his chances of playing for a national championship is better.

  • Part :2- Michigan has 5 dbs coming in this class with Taylor, countess, Richardsons, hollowell and who they bring in ,in 2014. So they loaded, I think they will be ok.

How is he going to be on the field with any UM commits?

However, they will be in his ear over the couse of the next year.

  • I also don't see the chances of flipping Webb to be very high. The fact he committed this early makes me think he wants to take his own path and not follow all the guys from Cass Tech. So they'll be in his ear and maybe he'll change his mind, but I'm not holding my breath.

Makes it incredibly important to land Westphal in the class.

I agree. And frankly, with our class as small as it is, I don't think the impact of losing him is huge. My guess is we will take 2 CB, Westphal most likely one. And there are a lot of other guys around I like as good or better than Webb.

If this was a position of high need, like QB or DE (ahem) that would really suck.

  • According to Josh Hemholdt of rivals Webb is the highest rated corner in the mid west for 2014 so there are not to many better in this area. But Westphal along with another quality corner should be OK.

I said that w/ the assumption that Michigan will end up signing CT kids for 2014.

You're slow if you think Conley is playing reciever (just saying)

That's not too likely. Its seems the linebackers are fairly low on the list, and I'm not sure if Hosey will get an offer at RB.

The next CT commit will probably 2015.

It's like a reversed Dymonte Thomas situation. Quite a bit Scarlet and Gray at Marlington, and though there weren't any other OSU commits at the school Hill (RB-Tennessee) and Higgins (OL-MSU) both would've went to OSU had they gotten offers. Webb will most certainly be surrounded by Maize and Blue, and maybe even feel some pressure/resentment from locals just like Dymonte did. Though I think Thomas fed off those people and it strengthened his commitment to Michigan. It'll be interesting to see how it plays out, early commitments are usually taken with a grain of salt, especially out of state ones.

Aren't some other Cass Tech kids giving OSU a solid look? Or are there some that are considered Michigan locks?

I doubt Michigan turns Webb, he seems pretty steadfast in his stance. Maybe if Michigan has a big season and beats tOSU while some Cass kids thrive, but I still highly doubt it.

Weber the 2015 RB said tOSU was his favorite, but once Michigan offered I think that changed. Jayru (2015 QB) I doubt Michigan offers TBH, and Alabi the DL/OL I think will be a Wolverine.

Really stings losing Webb, a class of him and Westphall would have been outstanding. Parker becomes a must as others have mentioned.

No he didn't. Bill Kurelic said he did. Then Weber came out and said that he was misquoted and it was not true.

Fair enough, I hadn't heard that.

Even when he was quoted as saying that, I just thought the kid was angling for a Michigan offer. And even if he hasn't admitted it, I'd be shocked if we don't lead.

Michigan should not take a back this class and take 2 next year IMO. Harris and Weber would be outstanding.

If Harris goes elsewhere it's tOSU, and I want Weber being a stud from Cass.

Weber is pretty good. Mid four star-ish IMO. Jayru is boom or bust. Definitely a project as he is not polished at all. He's a little like DeShone Kizer.

Obviously long way to go as these guys are just finishing their sophomore years, so a lot could change.

Weber is better than Mikalel Wilbon IMO... so right around a 92 -93 sounds about right.

I'm not too high on Campbell . I'll watch him again this year, but he's not asked to make many difficult throws.

  • Hell, the kid even said he didn't want to play corner. And talking to some reliable sources they didn't even recruit him as a corner.

Let me guess.... as an athlete? Ohhh sure Webb come play what ever you want here at osu and you can be coached by the greatest coach in the world, Urban Liar eh eh I mean Urban Meyer.... liar

Meyer to coach Coombs rumor "see what I just did there, suckered him just like I did conley! These guys are just to easy to lie to!"
