    I was told I could be a DB/OG/punter and that Coach Hoke had a dream that I would win 3 Heismans in my career. He offered me a scholarship, but I told him to keep it so he could fit Derrick Green, Laquon Treadwell, and Leon McQuay in the class.

    The coaching staff promised Shane Morris they wouldn't recruit any other QBs if he committed.

  • My thoughts:

    Honestly, I want to wish Dawson well, but I'm pretty unhappy right now, mainly because of the shock. I absolutely didn't think he'd be one of our decommits, and it sounds like this has been in the works for a while. I'm doubly unhappy due to dragging it out - at least it's not an NSD flip, but it seems like the last few days have just been absolutely miserable for Michigan recruiting: Conley thinking about Oregon, Oklahoma hiring Treadwell's uncle, and now Dawson.

    While I think we can bring in someone good so we'll still have 5OLs, this does sting. Anyone who thinks Dawson isn't a hell of a player and wouldn't be a very valuable piece of our team is kidding themselves. Obviously, one player doesn't make a class, but losing a good 6 months of recruiting time on other OL prospects pisses me off.

    If/when we replace Dawson with another top OL recruit, I'll wish him well. Until then, I reserve judgment.

    Probably someone who we're not actively recruiting at the moment. Honestly, I think that's a good move on the part of our coaches. Unless we can get back in on an elite O-line recruit like Pocic or McGovern, I see no reason why we need to reach for one. It's still entirely possible that AJ Williams is eventually moved to OT.

    He has called our staff and said he wanted to set up a visit to UF, he has done this 3 times this year, first for FNL's and then for the UK game and the LSU game. He set up the visit throughout the week and then come time to visit he no showed. After he did for LSU again one of our coaches who is still close to Mattison decided to give him a call and fill him in on what the kid was doing. This was a week ago(the day or 2 after the LSU game) and a week later Michigan drops him

    Well, if true, Coach Hoke did the right thing by cutting Dawson lose. He was being less than honest with our coaches.

    I get that he had some harsh times but that's a pretty dishonest thing for him to do if the coaches didn't know about it.

    agreed, the way he handled it is upsetting and I hate to miss out on good instate talent, especially to the sec but we have several good interior lineman in the fold and with all the top rated ol for 2014 already showing heavy Michigan interest we will be fine. Would Dawson have been a very good player for us, probably so and it's too bad to lose him but it's not critical. The future oline is still gona be very good.
