David Dawson...

  • As a Michigan fan of over 30+ years I must say I am embarrassed for some of you. A 17-18 year old kid who lost a parent in the last year is not acting how you'd like? So instead of being mature and helping him out or just ignoring it some send barbs, post BS online and have sent hurtful messages to him on twitter. He is the one acting immature? He is a 17 year old kid. Of course he is going to act somewhat immature, all 17 year olds are in most regards.

    This is a recruiting site as far as I know. This kid is no longer our recruit. How about we try to put our best face forward and drop this. Recruits read these site and the only thing threads like this say is how bad some of the fans are here.

    To David Dawson and his family. I wish you the best of luck where ever you go. Sorry things did not work out for you with Michigan.

    I never wished any harm on the kid, but you can't deny that he's acting like a spoiled child. I'm sorry if I offended him, but thats my opinion and I'm sticking to it.

    I wonder if the current commits would want Dawson back. It doesnt really matter in the end what they want but curious if they would welcome him back.

    I am sure as a friend the players wouldn't want them back. However after reading some of the commits correspondence with him, it seems as though some of them do not care for the way he ha been talking about Michigan. Fir onstage after e talked trash about Michigan, Taco Charlton said "you can't make tweets like this and then get mad when Michigan fans say stuff"

    For the 2 or 3 people that have said "hurtful" things about him there have been 100's of people that told him good luck, and sent him positive messages after his father passed earlier this year.

    Then he went on to bash UM, and name MSU and ohio his leaders. Sorry, but that's not going to sit well.

  • The kid is screwing up, no question. Lets just admit that, and leave him alone. I think he realizes he made a mistake, too late to fix it, and is reacting as 18 year olds are wont to do. I frankly wish him the best, and don't give a damn what he says, smack or not.

  • What's pissing me off is people coming into threads, in which the title says "David Dawson".... and proceed to complain about people talking about *gasp David Dawson.

    People can post about his recruitment if they want to. He was a one time UM commit who is bashing the program and now has ohio and MSU in the lead. It's a recruiting website. If you don't want to read it, ,don't open the thread. Honestly how is this such a difficult concept to grasp?

    Nobody here is hoping for anything bad to happen to him, nobody is saying anything horrible about him. EDIT: Purse comment was unnecessary.

    So. You're saying it's America, let him say what he wants, but at the same time you want to lock a thread and stop people from talking about something? You realize how hypocritical that is right?

    Grow up? Really? The worst I have said is that he sounds immature and angry. That is called "jumping all over him". What universe do you live in?

    If you don' care about it fine... don't post about it. I've said before that I think he was either 4th or 5th among our incoming OL so it's not that big of a loss. If by "bothers me" you mean amuses me. Then yes I guess I'm bothered. I find it funny that he has done a complete 180 and is trashing a program that was good to him.

    Also there wouldn't have been a new thread if an older one wasn't locked. I don't get people like you. You're complaining about it being stale and old, but nobody forced you to open the thread in the first place. You're like the guy who says he doesn't drink, but you're spotted at the bar every day. Suuure.

  • I don't think I've bashed Dawson. I've tempered what comments I have made about him by saying something to the effect of "if the stories are true..." I will however agree with Clarkw267 that if you don't want to hear about Dawson, don't visit this very clearly titled thread. I don't believe that we should be enforcing "classiness" by censorship. Disagree all ya like. I just don't see the need to shut this thread down. I haven't seen anything over the top here.

    Actually I came to a thread about David Dawson, and said David Dawson's comments which were posted here, made him sound angry and immature.

    What I said pisses me off, is people that open a thread, then complain for the thread to be locked. What is the purpose in that?

    No. You said you were pissed off that people were coming into a thread on a public message board, where you posted comments critical of David Dawson, to criticize you and your comments. And then you threw some derogatory barbs at them about going shopping. You are exhibiting the same immaturity that you are claiming you see in David Dawson when he lashes out against people who are attacking him on twitter. If you expect him to act as a mature adult, the least you can do is hold yourself to the same standard.

    His actions might have been different, but his thoughts about Michigan would probably be the same. The people attacking him just gave him reason to say those thoughts.
