Now ... who was the MSU person that cut off our recruitier at that conference ....

He could have learned something about recruiting. Oh well, their loss, Michigan's gain.

    A) I would suggest that both staffs will focus hard on this game every year and in the future I don't see either letting the other rattle off 4 in a row so right off the bat I would say that sort of dominance by either team is over. B) What does "i hope he blows more than a gasket" mean? Are you so angry you hope he has another heart problem? That's bush league. Your better than that.

I would say MSU is about to be put back into place. Recruiting top-5 classes WILL position you to win 4 in a row - and many more. Obviously, coaching is a big part as well. MSU beat us during the worst period (and coaching) in Michigan history. Being purely objective, I do not see how any MSU fan is not concerned by what Michigan is doing on the recruiting trail. These are elite kids being recruited and committing to Blue. You can only "coach up" so many kids on a team (as MSU likes to tell us). Yes, you have to win on the field. BUT ... before you win on the field, you need to plow and plant the seeds. Michigan has some 'stud' seeds growing in its house.

  • And from the team that's won more September Heisman's than any other program in the nation comes this thread. Funny how the 2-and-3 star players Dantonio recruited have been owning um the last four years in the one place that actually counts- the football field.

Enjoy your perceived paper victory. And we'll enjoy our real ones.

I am actually enoying elite coaches recruiting elite players, as opposed to your "coaching-up" recruiting classes. MSU lives on the past, as Michigan prepares for the future. MSU has won 4 times with Michigan down, and still has not won anything substancial, or garnished a top recruiting class.

    Interesting.

You are completely missing the point.

Dantonio is seemingly trying to see he is taking his time on purpose.

The fact is he has offered just about as many players as Hoke- he just isn't landing them.

This isn't about star rankings- it is about Hoke killing Dantonio head to head for players he wanted badly.

What is so difficult to understand?

You do realize that MSU's rise has correlated quite nicely with Dantonio's recruiting classes? The class of 2009 was MSU's most highly regarded in both class rank and average starts. The class of 2010 was the second highest ranked and in ave stars. So let's see: the 2010 football team had the the 2009 recruiting class be sophomores, then 2011 football team had the 2009 recruiting class as juniors and the 2010 recruiting class as sophomores. Every MSU fan I've talked to says the 2011 team was the strongest in a long, long while; this is the team that has MSU's best recruiting class as juniors, and the second best as sophomores. And from what I can tell, many MSU fans expect the 2012 team to be just as good, if not better (at least on D); this is with MSU's two best recruiting classes as upper classmen. By the way, that 2009 recruting class had like 10 4-stars.

Now tell me again that recruiting doesn't matter.

MSU fans are so delusional. They haven't done anything that Michigan hasn't done in the last ten years. The only difference is that we don't dance in the streets with a simple 10 win season.

UM had b2b 11 win seasons in the last decade?

Do Recruiting Rankings Matter? | Recruitocosm

You're probably thinking, How can they? I mean, you've watched the Texas offense the past two seasons, haven't you? And aren't these rankings just created by guys like Geoff Ketchum? What do they know about football? Why am I still reading this site now that Jesus has left? I can't answer that last one for you. But I am here to tell you that recruiting rankings do matter, and that you should care what the pundocracy says about your recruiting class.

Funny how you opt to discount the rather tangible effect the recent upheaval at Michigan has had on the success that MSU has enjoyed the last four years as well. Notice IOWA has enjoyed similar success during the Carr --> RR --> Hoke transition...yet one of you is MUCH louder than the other?

  • One thing to realize guys, what do you expect from a coach who can't lead his team to a BCS game? Coach D is a good coach, good at talent evaluation, but piss poor recruiter.

Makes complete sense.. coaches up MSU's 2/3 star kids to beat UM's 4/5 star kids 4 straight years, but, yes, Coach D can't recruit at all..

That would be a much better point if MSU didn't just have an All American who was a 3 star.

I think he is very good at getting relatively under the radar kids and developing them.

But I do think a better recruiter and better recruiting staff would be able to capitalize on their recent success to a greater degree.

Solid BCS Bowl Coach D led his team to, oh wait, MSU has never been to one.

    P.S.
You're at a Michigan site, you want pissing match, go back to tBB where you started at. MSU fans don't want Michigan fans crapping on MSU at their home board, you should respect that here.

..coming from the poster who sends harassing and homophobic PM's to posters who upset him.

Harassing and homophobic? Jesus man I came over here to make a simple point on a comment wishing ill will to a coach. Relax. I'll pm someone as opposed to airing them out on the board which is rediculous. Sure, anyone provoked gets ticked off on these things but I've never gone on the offensive. I've had plenty of discussions over here that haven't ended in a flame up. What's gotten into you today?

Yeah, that's kind of the entire point. Every team has kids that wash-out. Teams like Bama that recruit like 20 4/5 star kids each class can loose half of them and still be the most talented team. What happens if MSU only recruits 5-4stars in 2009 and then loses 5 of them...

Pissed me off? He flat out went at me on the board to be a dick. Instead of telling him what I thought on the board and eat up space and cause a flare up I let him know what I thought of him off the board. Seems like the sensible thing to me. At any rate, I'm not going to get into it. This is not the place. Good day gents.
