Dantonio/Hecklinski Incident

  • MrWoodson said...

No cares what Dantonio thinks. He's a punch line.

Clearly Hecklinski and the other coaches did because he shut up and the other coaches had a chance to speak.

Sorry he didn't want to make a fool out of himself like Dantonio did.

This is great. Needed a good laugh, thanks guys.

Your coach said he was in the wrong. He admitted it. Yet you still can't get out of delusion land. Just because our Coach has balls and your coordinator turns red faced and stops talking on the spot because Coach D said so doesn't make Coach D some terrible person.

Why can't you just chalk it up to your coordinator not understanding the rules fully and leave it at that?

Why can't you understand that Dantonio was not running the clinic and had no reason to say anything. The fact that he did makes him come off like douche.

Let me ask you this. Why do you feel the need to come to a Michigan site and defend him? I am guessing because deep down you know he came off like a douche.

You know both are possible right?

Yeah, Heck should have stopped earlier but Dantonio was still a douche about it. There's a polite way to handle things and according to several HS coaches, he didn't handle it that way. This really doesn't matter unless the HS coaches think Dantonio was impolite. Then it does matter.

He didn't say he was wrong he just said he wasn't aware of the rules forum, Dantonio also said he didn't know the rules of the forum, so Dantonio was wrong by calling him out like that in front of all of the Michigan High School coaches. You guys are already struggling with recruiting, this does not help at all. I read the article and it seems like Dantonio got pissed about hearing the success Michigan has had in recruiting and yelled at Coach Heck.

Why can't you just admit Dantonio made a full out of himself in front of everyone and Coach Heck took the high road

  • To all Spartan fans in this thread, be careful what you say, it's ok to have a good discussion but do not flame or troll, we will be heavy with the ban hammer, this is your warning.

How are we struggling with recruiting? We have landed a vast majority of plan A guys we have gone for. I know you don't understand that if they don't have five stars next to their name on rivals that they can't be good, but I am sure guys like Rush, Worthy, Robinson, and Bell will have to remind you once again. You act like our coach walked up and slapped him. You say your coach took the high road and Coach D made himself look like a fool, but many say that your coach was being arrogant talking about how grand michigan is, while Coach D made him pause so other smaller schools could have a chance to talk about their programs.

And the reason I came on here is because I knew it would be the most talked about subject on here and you would be getting your panties in a bundle. Weird, seeing as we aren't a rival of yours and don't matter.

Well it does directly involve a Michigan coach, so what's your point?

What part of not our main rival don't you understand? Almost all Michigan fans consider State a rival just not anywhere near the rival that Ohio is.

Good for Hecklinski, doesn't excuse Dantonio's immature behaviour though.

Obviously guy who wrote that is a Sparty fan....

    Talk about one sided.

I think his point is that it also directly involves the head coach at MSU.

Baseless speculation in this thread is annoying. I see direct quotes from both Dantonio and Heck. I would only reference those and not subjective interpretations of how the attendees perceived the interaction. Unless you have someone other than those two on record as saying how it went down, you look a little ridiculous saying how poor Dantonio came off looking.

It appears the Michigan coach did not understand the format which was that each coach had a few minutes to introduce themselves before the questions for the panel began. He was very classy and apologized for this.

Why don't you post that on tRCMB where everyone is saying Coach Heck was slurping Michigan. That sounds like speculation to me. Now run along.

Dantonio will be gone from EL in the next two years. He is waiting for the South Carolina job to open up and thinks he has a shot at that, but if Spurrier looks like he is going to stay much longer Dantonio will head somewhere else. He has a very small window before MSU's performance regresses back to historical levels and he is going to parlay his two 11-win seasons into a better job before it's too late.

    Link?

  • This entire debate is pretty stupid. Sounds like Hecklinski made a mistake about the format and shouldn't have been talking as long as he was, but Dantonio interrupted in a snide way and should have handled it differently. Neither side is right and we should both get off our high horses.

With regard to Dantonio generally, he's certainly not the devil we all make him out to be. But he's definitely not the class act MSU fans think he is. He's an angry guy who takes things far too personally and has an absolutely pathological hatred of Michigan. But he's a good coach and likely conducts himself well the majority of the time (when he's not too worked up about UM). MSU fans will defend him to the death no matter what he does because he's made them relevant after years of suck. UM fans will attack him no matter what because he's got such a ridiculous excessive hatred for us. Ultimately, he's somewhere in between.

On one level, I agree. It's not like this is news. Everyone knows Dantonio is a tool. But the reason there is a thread on here about the event is that this time he was a tool to one of our assistant coaches. If you go over to MGoBlog, you will find a lot of discussion about how Danny Hope (Purdue's HC) was a dick when several years ago he dragged a player across the field at the end of a game to confront RR and blame him for the player being suspended by the B10. And you will probably find lots of threads on many Michigan sites about what a douche Brett Bielema is. That doesn't make Purdue and Wisconsin our big rivals and it doesn't make us obsessed with them. It just means their head coaches are dicks.

    MrWoodson

  • They were presenting in front of high school coaches? And these coaches lost respect for dantonio? Well, good luck in the future with prospects attending those schools, msu.

    Dantonio sounds jelly. lol

Plan A guys like Jarrod Wilson, Ben Braden, Amara Darboh, Devin Funchess, Matthew Godin, Royce Jenkins-Stone, Kyle Kalis, Mario Ojemudia, Ondre Pipkins, James Ross, Tom Strobel, A.J. Williams, and Chris Wormley. All Michigan commits that had Plan A offers from MSU. That is without getting into players such as Pittman that went to other schools with MSU Plan A offers.

As for your scoreboard comment. I was glad that we could point at it against ND, Nebraska, tOSU and in the BSC Bowl win. shrug

  • the one thing about all of this...while no one is in the right it's the simple fact that Dantonio yet again took it way to personally.

As far as the Plan A guys some spartans talk about....lets be honest here, you have no one but RR to thank for your new found success. His complete phasing out of Michigan guys that pretty much all landed in EL is the one and only reason this has happened.

I'll bet the farm guys like Worthy, Rush and company would have been recruited by Carr and company. It has to be concerning that Hoke and company came right into Sparty Feeder school FHH and took 2 of the 3 guys you wanted has to bother you. it has to bother you that Hoke has in one year came in and took the state back. it has to bother you that to start 2013 the clear top 2 guys didn't even bother to give you any kind of look. It has to bother you that in Ohio it seems to be Ohio/Michigan first and then what is left is for sparty. The reality is the guys like Worthy, Rush and company wont slip through the cracks anymore to you and that the head coach at Ohio wont waste his time pushing some of the other kids to your school.

These are a things that are completely bothering your fanbase....ask Iowa how it is to have to live by the whole getting by on lower rated talent over the years, you cant sustain unless you start getting the top kids and right now even after two 11 win seasons you cant close down the state of Michigan even after 4 straight wins.
