I watched his highlight video and immediately compared him to Iowa's Coker. I like his running style. With a couple years in the weight room, this kid could be a bruiser.

Congrats to him and to Michigan on a fine pick up.

    Go Blue!

I've seen a few comments over the past weeks asking why he wasn't offered and blah blah blah. He gets the offer then auto accepts and people start to question why? I understand wondering what's going on with other RB's, such as Dunn, but this kid obviously wants to be here. Only time will tell the type of player he can be, but for now I'll gladly accept him and let him relish in his decision. Just from watching the first 7 mins, the kid isn't afraid of contact, breaks plenty of arm tackles, catches out of the backfield, and can run inside or out. Welcome Drake and GBOD!!!

Edit: Didn't think I hit quote, but oh well...Def like the way he runs and with time could be a good one...

With potentially elite speed, if you look at his hurdle #'s in track.

  • First and foremost the coaches know best. I'm not gonna question them. I actually love this offer. I think the kids highly underrated and will be a good player for us in the future.

Secondly, this changes nothing for us in regards too Dunn. I'm not gonna go into detail, but we still desperately want him and will pursue him until NSD in February.

  • I don't know if you've been paying attention to my posts but I've been calling for Michigan to take two RBs (not counting Houma). Remember, they want to change to a power run game, and you need the personnel to do that. Drake is a 3* on 247, a 2* on Scout and unrated on Rivals. I expect his rating to jump after his senior season is evaluated. This is just another example (Clark) of the eye for talent that the coaches have.

I have and it looks like your gonna get your wish if we can pull either Brown or Dunn. I like the idea also. Just like you said, we need the personnel in order to switch to the power running game. As for his rating possibly jumping...I could careless. I watched his senior film and I liked what I saw. Plus, like I mentioned earlier the coaches thought he was worthy enough to offer. Which is good enough for me. All in all I'm happy!!

MSU isn't a very good football program.. takes year of consistent winning to get to that level. - copemoney 1/22/13

For sure, but I meant the jump in rating for the peeps that may doubt he has premiere talent. He's just another kid that flew under the radar. I like how Michigan is securing all the instate talent, getting some great Midwest recruits and cherry picking elite national talent.

  • I liked his flim it got better and better. Broke a lot of tackles and pushed piles. Plus he had speed to get to the outside and to make cut backs. He had some wiggle to his runs and he played QB on some plays.

nice coaches to find another under the radar guy clap

I dont see the point this year...we get Fitz and Hopkins back,to go along with Hayes and Rawls.

Maybe the coaches see Toussaint, Rawls and Justice Hayes. look really good. the coaches plain to take 2 really good backs in 2013. Drake looked good on film to the coaches and offer him to added depth. Plus if he doesnt work out at RB he can move to WR later. Maybe we are still in it for Dunn and Brown and Drake is going to move to WR right away and take a WR spot because they only think they can get one of the WR we are on hardest.

  • We have 85 scholarships available + walk on opportunities to find the best 30 or so players to win a championship. Not all of the kids who make a difference are 4 and 5 star guys. The coaches have done their due diligence and apparently believe Drake has the potential to compete for a spot. I'm inclined to trust their judgement.

I can trust their judgement and still not be excited about a commit.

Hopkins is going to be a full-time fullback next year. He's best for that position IMO. He blocks well.
