i agree i dont think we poach anymore recruits this year. Thompson is going to be the lone dove i think.
I think McCray is all blue. It doesn't seem like OSU has any interest either and he has reiterated that if he did receive an offer, he wouldn't have any interest in OSU.
Yeah i hear ya. That's why i put the maybe. He is the only one i could even possibly see flipping to OSU.
I said this back in December, but Meyers proclivity to recruit nationally would cannibalize Ohio recruits. Case in point, you look at Conley, McCray, Bolden, Dukes, Taco, & Butt all with no Ohio offers. Sure Ohio fan may say "we didnt offer them for various reasons," and that is exactly my point, it improves the stock of Hokes recruiting potential and overall class haul. I guess these such players Ohio is no longer recruiting are exactly the ones that fit the pro-style/mattison defensive scheme
Hoke has surprised me, do you think the success you have had in recruiting is mostly coaching or your quarterback. Not trying to troll your board, I do think Hoke will do well at Michigan. I like all of your recruits, but that doesn't mean I would trade your class for ours. I like Thomas, but "IF" we get V Bell we will be fine. We can't match you on O-line, but hopefully we can get Pocic and maybe Rodgers or Johnson. I will give you the edge at QB because of his recruiting, but like Barrett alot. I think Butt will be a very good tight end, but I think Baugh is a beast. You will beat us at RB if you get Isaac, otherwise we are pretty even right now. This isn't a knock on D. Smith. He looks Like he will be a good one, but we already have plenty of backs like him. We will have to see how tOSU and Michigan end up at WR. So far I am happy with Marshall and would not have gone after the one you pulled from Columbus. I think we are tied at this point at LB. Gedeon and McCray are both good pick ups. I would take Bosa over Taco any day. I watched Taco's film and thought he looked good, he should be a good one. I am a bit confused if you have a player like that, why would they set up a scheme that he isn't part of though. I would take our DB class over yours even without Bell. Congrats, I am looking forward to a good rivalry game.
Bolden was pre-Meyer, but still a miserable mistake by the Bucks...I think he is the best recruit in Michigan's '11 or '12 class
The recruiting success i'd split 50-25-25, between Hoke-Mattison-Others... Hoke lives and breaths Michigan football, and he comes off as 100% genuine when talking about his adoration for everything Michigan. That goes a long way when you actually believe in what you're selling. They are a coaching staff without as much cache as other staffs, but they come off as good ol' boys that parents feel very comfortable letting their kids go to play for. But I think the past success of Mattison & Borges makes things much easier for the staff as a whole.
Your post doesn't come off as trolling at all, and conversations w/ rival fans is fun for me if they have some sense (which seems to be the case here). I don't think anybody on either side of the rivalry would trade classes, Michigan fans are ecstatic about where we sit, and i'm sure Ohio loves the haul they're getting as they should.
I'm still confused at the whole Taco talk though... Ohio fans seem to think he didn't play consistently or start for his HS team but he recorded 60 tackles as an end. Anzalone (who is a great pickup btw) had 58 tackles as an LB but i've never seen his PT questioned.
A lot of time still left but I see both Michigan and Ohio pulling in great classes, and the rivalry getting back to the ways of old.
I know Taco was a starter, but Taco said that he gets pulled during one of their schemes. I am not going to look for the quote, but it was like the dime package or something. His film looked good, I was just wondering if the highlights aren't giving the whole story. I don't think you have a bad recruit in this class.

Yeah, he said he comes out in their 3-4 defense... a bit confusing to me as well, but it didn't seem to hurt his numbers. They are high school kids, so nobody is obviously near a finished product, but he has a lot of abilities for the staff to work with over the next few years.
Jalin Marshall has me a bit nervous, he's a natural playmaker and getting the ball in space will help his game out a lot. Not sure if he's ever done much route-running, but i'm sure he'll pick up on that pretty quick.
I am excited in general just to see an offense that will score. I loved Tressel, but he was conservative. Other than Troy Smith's team, we were always working field position. Even the championship year that we went 14-0, we barely beat most of the teams on the schedule including Marshall. Don't get me wrong, a win is a win, but very difficult to watch. What I am really interested in is for the Big 10 as a whole to be considered the top Conference. I liked Paterno( dampened somewhat since the scandal), but it is probably the best thing for PSU getting a younger, more energetic coach. I think the Big 10 has a lot of great coaches right now. Hopefully somebody from the Big 10 can unseat the SEC.
If we get gang raped down in Jimmy World against Bama, I can see the full court press on all our recruits. Hey, I would expect our coaches to do the same if there is a kid of interest. All's fair in College football
Um, because he can. The only reason he hasn't flipped Dymonte yet is because he cooled on him/offer wasn't committable/didn't want him anyway.
I'm 100% sure that urban ((((won't)) flip any of our commit's
I thought it was sarcasm... but i've never been good at judging interwebz humor.
This. Not that it will work, but I would do the same.
The heaviest sarcasm I could muster, meow.
We'd be talking about flipping Ohio commits but I looked and there is no one we'd want.
He's a Michigan fan, he was saying it as sarcasm.
Go Blue & Gig Em'!
All the Buckeye fans that said the ole fence around Ohio is going back up just dont realize Urban will battle for the elite Ohio kids but he is going nationwide...Couple that with Hoke's recruiting prowess and Michigan, lil brother , nd will get Ohio Kids . Urban just wont stick to Ohio,,,
BBBG, I know Urban is not RichRod, but from an outsider's perspective the parallels are eerie. The two big differences I see right now is you have the perfect QB to run a spread offense from day 1 and you have one of the best defenses in the B10. But RR did many of the same things that Urban seems to be doing and the unintended consequences were devastating.
RR repeatedly passed up and/or didn't show enough early love to top talent in Michigan and the Midwest and much of that talent ended up at places like MSU, OSU, ND, PSU, IA and WI. Also, we "downsized" at many positions in the name of speed. Yes, we got faster, but our QBs, RBs, WRs, OLs, and FBs (to the extent we really had any) all got significantly smaller. And those smaller players had a hard time holding up against the better and bigger teams in the B10. Finally, RR had a very difficult time landing elite players who did not want to play in a spread. Luring big, elite WRs, TEs, RBs and OLs, in particular, was a major problem.
I don't doubt whether Urban knows how to coach, but Tressel did a phenomenal job year in and year out and it's hard to see Urban really being that much more successful. At the same time, the level of talent (and size) that is now coming into AA is a substantial step up from anything RR had. We also have the best defensive coaching staff we've had since the 90s. I am not predicting anything, but I wonder if Urban is making a strategic mistake in letting too much Ohio talent get away (especially to us).

I think the balance is back in the big ten and as much as I wish no one got any Ohio recruits it was inevitable after what happened that the recruiting there would shift. Like you said about the comparisons between urban and RR, urban will get much better talent fitting the big ten. I have not seen anyone post this opinion but i think what tressel did was great for OSU and horrible for the big ten. Without many national recruits and not missing on Ohio talent we didn't do well competing nationally (in games) and other programs like you guys and MSU struggled getting less talent from Ohio. Our conference has taken a lot of scrutiny for this and to have more teams competive (whether we like seeing rivals win or not) nationally is good for all of us. Even if it goes back to the big 2 it helps us both to be portrayed in a strong conference that can recruit and play with the SEC.
Sorry to tell you but I don't think about that when I sleep. If Urban helps you sleep at night, more power to you.
You a night owl tamu? I live on the west coast so I don't see much posting late but you always seem to be active.
